The Environment and Civil society intersect with the Cinema world : Chenini Mediterranean Film festival

On the evening of Sunday, October 22nd, the Mediterranean Film Festival in Chenni, from the state of Gabes, announced its eighteenth session, with programming aimed at enhancing exchange between the two shores of the Mediterranean, under the title “Environment and Climate Change

 

Over the course of 4 days, the festival’s audience watched a group of long and short feature films in the heart of the Shenni Oasis. The visions differed from one film to another, but they agreed to address topics related to human rights of all kinds, especially environmental and developmental ones,13 Arab and Western countries participated in the activities of the eighteenth session of the Mediterranean Film Festival in Chenni, which is organized by the Association of Oasis Shapes and Colors (Association Formes et Couleurs Oasiennes) within partnership with ( Fédération Tunisienne des Ciné-Clubs/Forum tunisien pour les droits économiques et sociaux/ Association Le Petit secouriste/L’association des amis du printemps arabe/houloul/Lapat/Rosa Luxembourg/Association Terre solidaire/Association De Sauvegarde De L’Oasis De Chenini Gabes/Nawaat/Greengrants fund /Greenpeace)

Noomen Noomen, assistant in the Communication and Media Department at Jamaity , accompanied all the activities of this session of the Mediterranean Film Festival in Chenini as a guest at the festival through the screening of his environmental documentary film “Earth is Home”.

 

In addition to cinema, the festival also included a number of workshops and round tables that addressed many environmental and sustainable development topics. The Shenni region, with its beautiful oases, witnessed many days of meetings and discussion sessions on the rights of nature, biodiversity, and water conservation, in the presence of many experts, researchers, and environmental filmmakers, as well as a group of activists in civil society such as (UNESCO Gafsa, Association cinéma bizerte ABC,Croissant Rouge Tunisien,Association Le Petit secouriste,Association De Sauvegarde De L’Oasis De Chenini Gabes…)

 

the fetisval dedicated this session to the people of Palestine in solidarity with what the Gaza Strip is experiencing these days of violent Israeli military bombing and genocide , which has left thousands martyred and wounded.
