POSITION DESCRIPTION

  • Position Title : MedWet Civil Society Project Assistant
  • Reports to : Project Coordinator
  • Deadline of submission : 13/06/2016
  • Type of contract : Consultant
  • Period : From 01/07/2016 to 30/06/2017, 12 months

MAJOR FUNCTION

Active NGO participation is fundamental to guarantee a smooth transition and a real process of democratization in North African Country. Only active local NGO participation will guarantee the long-term conservation of biodiversity. The proposed project will focus on the environmental NGO community in North Africa Country. Over the three years, with support from the, MAVA, WWF Mediterranean programme Office (WWF Medpo) and its partners Med Wet Initiative, Tour du Valat and Wetlands International, will work on project: Maghreb Wetlands Sentinels: the MedWet Civil Society Network, in the implementation of Capacity Building and Workshops Program in the countries of North Africa: Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco, project funded by MAVA Foundation The project is specifically to reinforce the partnership between authorities or organizations responsible for the Ramsar Convention and Civil Society Organisations and the creation of regional network to promote conservation of wetlands and Ramsar sites.

The general task of the consultant is to assist the project coordinator in the Implementation of activities mentioned below in order to achieve the conservation objectives.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  •  Assist the project coordinator in the Implementation of project activities
  • Organise meetings (premises, equipment, document preparation, restoration and assist participants)
  • Maintain the basic project data, coordinating the studies, organizing events;
  • Ensure the preparation and monitoring of NGOs contracts during the implementation of the project
  • Organizing logistics for meetings, training and workshops for project staff, consultants and partners.

Detail tasks

Implement 4 trainings and in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco:

  • Prepare the program with project partners and project coordinator
  • Ensure all logistics activities according to the project schedule
  • Prepare minutes and reports of the training
  • Lease and contact the candidates for the training

Prepare and implement 3 workshops in Algeria, Tunisia and Morocco

  • Prepare the program with project partners and project coordinator
  • Ensure all logistics activities according to the project schedule
  • prepare minutes and reports of the workshops

Assisting the project coordinator for monitoring of the implementation of “the Evaluation & Monitoring Wetlands Protocol “ by the NGOs of the network Networking, Reporting, Travel:

  • Undertake a frequent Mission as needed.
  • Produce and forward the technical reports of the activities implemented.
  • Upon agreement with the Project Coordinator, attend WWF meetings and as required.
  • Upon agreement with the Project Coordinator, undertake travel and missions aimed at the effective undertaking of all the above-mentioned tasks.
  • Liaise with the colleagues from WWF NA and circulate proactively information related to the project.

Office Management and other tasks:

  •  If needed, assist the team of the WWF North Africa Office in concrete tasks related to the daily management of the office.
  • If needed, assist the WWF North Africa Office in specific tasks related to project development, implementation and fundraising.

 

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Have at least a Licence Degree (or equivalent) in administration, or related field.
  • At least 1 years of relevant professional experience in the field of Project Management, preferably in areas related to the field of nature protection
  • Good knowledge of NGOs functions
  • Excellent written and communication in French and English.
  • Strong adaptability a availability, flexibility, rigor and organizational skills
  • Use standard software (Word, Excel and Power Point).
