WORK HOURS: Full-time, 40 hours/week

SALARY: Ordinarily Resident (OR): FSN-7 TD 25,698 Gross annual salary (Position is graded at the full performance level of Grade: FSN-07) Not-Ordinarily Resident (NOR): FP-7* US$ 35,364 p.a. (Starting Salary) *Final grade/step for NORs will be determined by Washington.

ALL ORDINARILY RESIDENT (OR) APPLICANTS MUST HAVE THE REQUIRED WORK AND/OR RESIDENCY PERMITS TO BE ELIGIBLE FOR CONSIDERATION.

The U.S. Mission in Tunis is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of CLO Administrative Assistant in the Management Office.

BASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION:

Receives and greets newcomers coming into the embassy, helps with their orientation around the compound and around the city/country. Maintains the necessary office supplies inventory, answers and responds to phone calls, e-mails and walk-ins. Manages CLO library with acceptable volume of materials. Keeps an index of businesses for shopping, dining and other services. Assembles materials and prepares welcome packages for newcomers. Prepares maps and translations as requested and coordinates preparation of the mission newsletter.

Maintains accurate information about local schools, including especially pre-schools, maintains detailed records for all CLO trips and events; including such information as correspondence related to the event, costs, and number of participants. Maintains eContacts lists for CLO contacts outside of the embassy, including contacts at schools and businesses owner in tourism industry and third-country diplomats. Organizes and coordinates local trips and excursions, this includes arranging tour guides, accommodation and meal arrangements, confirming entrance fees, time requirements and more while managing expectations and requests of the participants. Collects cash from customers to pay for CLO events and trips and prepares payments for guides, restaurants, etc. Acts as guide or interpreter as necessary.

Maintains contacts in the tourist industry to help with CLO events and trips, keeps abreast of local community events and promotion for the community. Maintains contacts with local churches to provide accurate information for services

QUALIFICATIONS REQUIRED

Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.

  1. EDUCATION: Completion of two years of university study is required.
  2. EXPERIENCE: Three years of work experience in an administrative, event planning or travel capacity is required.
  3. LANGUAGE: Level IV English, French IV and Arabic IV are required.
  4. SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Excellent communication skills (written and oral), strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize tasks, strong interpersonal skills to deal with a variety of embassy personnel and provide good customer service. Ability to research on the internet and through telephone calls to provide accurate information on places of interest. Willingness to work evenings and weekends, ability to operate effectively in stressful situations.
