Job Title: Project Manager – Union Tunisienne des Médias Associatifs (UTMA)
Location: (Tunis, Tunisia)

Reporting to: Executive Board of UTMA

Summary:
UTMA is a Tunisian association that aims to advance the development of community media
sector in Tunisia. Established in 2015 as a members association, UTMA is currently running the
national program “Aswatona Attounissia” – in partnership with the British based non for profit
organization Community Media Solutions (CMS) – to build the capacities of community media
organizations & of the Union and to engage in policy dialogue on issues related to freedom of
expression and media broadcasting regulations especially for community radios.

Job Profile:
Reporting to the Executive Board and coordinating with CMS, the Project Manager is responsible
for performing a wide range of responsibilities to ensure the successful implementation of the
“Aswatona Attounissia” project and the advancement of the work of UTMA as a membership
organization serving the community media sector in Tunisia.

Duties/Assignments:
The Project manager will:

  1. Executive Board of UTMA.
  2.  Work with and support the network of community media in Tunisia
  3.  Manage logistical support for implementation of activities planned within the framework of
    the project, including organising events, training workshops and other activities.
  4.  Produce reports of activities implemented supported by evidence of implementation
    including outputs, attendance sheets, photos, documents, promotional materials etc.
  5. Coordinate closely with the Regional Project Officer (CM Solutions) ensuring the
    participation of Tunisian community media and civil society in regional activities.
  6.  Assist in compiling quarterly narratives report on progress of the project.
  7.  Assist in building a network of community media, and of stakeholders involved in the
    community media sector in Tunisia, and to maintain and develop the UTMA database.
  8. Assist with project communications including event announcements, press releases, social
    media, media database, development of publicity material and case studies.
  9.  Ensure UTMA participation in relevant activities organized in Tunisia and to represent the UTMA when required to do so by the Executive Board.
  10.  Research and evaluate funding opportunities and prepare funding applications with support from CMS.
  11.  Conduct missions and field visits to community media and relevant events in Tunisia.
  12.  Update the website and social media of UTMA with profiles of the members and with ,community media news and information on events and activities of UTMA.
  13.  Supervise and support the Financial and Administrative Assistant.
  14.  Ensure compliance of UTMA with all legal, financial and contractual responsibilities in relation to its institutional functioning and the delivery of projects and activities.
  15. Undertake such other tasks as may be reasonably requested by the Executive Board in consultation with the post holder.

TERMS AND CONDITIONS:

Type of contract: This is one year contract with 3 months trial period that could be extended for
2 years.
Location: Tunis, Tunisia
Holidays: Tunisian law applied
Salary and benefits: To be determined based on experience
Travel: Travel to the regions and communities to support project partners and association
members will required in Tunisia. Some international travel may be required.
Hours: Standard working week is 35 hours a week. However, the demands of the job are likely
to be higher and may include some working on weekends and holidays.

 

 

 

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Relevant academic degree, e.g. Media and Journalism, international studies, , international development, or related fields.
  • Minimum of five years of work experience in the civil society sector in Tunisia.
  • Previous working in freedom of expression and/or media is highly desirable
  • Ability to thrive in a sometimes stressful, deadline-driven environment
  • Ability to thrive in a sometimes stressful, deadline-driven environment
  • Strong project/proposal management skills
  • Experience with budget and financial procedures.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication in Arabic, French and English
