Position title: Translator & Editor

Background :
Belady – an island for humanity, is a human rights organization that advocates for civil and political rights and aims at promoting transparency and accountability and curbing violations. We operate from our three country-based offices including in Tunisia.
Belady is currently contracting a Translator & Editor who will be responsible of translating and editing internal and external documents.
Role and responsibilities:
The translator & editor will be in charge of translation, transcription, and interpretation services in Belady, which includes and not exhaustive to:
– Translating of internal technical documents as requested from French/Arabic to English or from English/French to Arabic.
– Editing the available translations from the Belady’s staff to ensure a high quality of translation.
– Reviewing and proofreading of Belady knowledge materials (research, briefing papers, studies etc.).
– Reviewing audio/video and other advocacy materials to write/transcribe information with a high-degree of accuracy.
– Ensuring consistency and coherence of terminology in the knowledge and advocacy materials and documents of Belady in collaboration with the members of Belady data collection and research departments.
– Prioritizing translation and editing responsibilities following the deadlines and the calendar of the 3 country-offices.
– Assisting Belady members and staff with interpretion during phone calls and meetings.
