Title: Training Coordinator

 

Length of Assignment: Long-Term

 

Reports to: Enabling Environment Team Lead

 

  • BACKGROUND

 

The USAID-funded Visit Tunisia Activity is a 5-year project designed to enhance Tunisia’s tourism potential, with the goal of generating revenue and jobs, particularly for women and youth, and for populations in underserved regions of the country. The overall vision behind USAID’s investment in Tunisia’s tourism sector is to capitalize on Tunisia’s natural, cultural, heritage and historical sites to develop a more diversified and high-quality tourism sector that contributes to broad-based economic growth. Through this activity, USAID seeks to contribute to Tunisia’s growth and development to offset the negative economic impact of the coronavirus crisis. The project will seek to achieve the following four objectives:

 

  • Objective 1: Enhance Tunisia’s competitiveness as a tourism destination;
  • Objective 2: Increase tourism-related investments and revenue;
  • Objective 3: Improve the enabling environment for sustained growth in the tourism sector; 
  • Objective 4: Private sector engagement to expand the offer and quality of alternative tourism.

 

This project will collaborate with the relevant ministries, private sector, and donors to advance the objectives while contributing to the following high-level results: 

  1. Increase in the number of tourists. 
  2. Increase in the number of jobs in the tourism sector. 
  3. Increase in tourism revenue. 
  4. Increase in private sector-led investment and innovation in the tourism sector. 

  • POSITION DESCRIPTION

 

The Training Coordinator will work closely with the Tourism Human Capital Development Specialist to support workforce development activities and other training programs across the project. The coordinator will be responsible for developing, organizing and implementing workshops, virtual and in-person trainings and capacity building activities. The coordinator will also facilitate workshops related to marketing, communications and product and experiences teams. 

  • DETAILED RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Support workforce development activities, and development of training programs for public and private stakeholders;
  • Support marketing and communications and products and experiences training or capacity building workshops;
  • Manage coordination of all workshops, virtual and in-person trainings and capacity building events across project activities;
  • Design, prepare and assemble training materials;
  • Coordinate logistics and serve as main liaison for training sites and other host venues
  • Maintain training course calendar in collaboration with Visit Tunisia team leads and specialists 
  • Collect feedback from training evaluations and prepare documents reflecting feedback for project teams

  • QUALIFICATIONS

 

  • Bachelor degree in business management, tourism management, hospitality management or equivalent is required; 
  • Master degree in business management or human capital management is preferred; 
  • Minimum of five years of experience in training, management development, and human capital development, is required;
  • Experience of working at operations level in the tourism and/or hospitality sectors is desirable;
  •  Demonstrated work experience in tourism operations, developing industry training programs and curriculum is desirable; 
  • Demonstrated experience working with enterprises on the development of standards, SOPs, certifications, in the tourism sector (hotels, restaurants, etc.) is desirable;
  • Excellent writing and oral presentation skills are required; 
  • Skilled at relationship management, with strong interpersonal skills is required. 
  • Experience working with international donors preferred;  
  • Fluency in English and French is required, fluency in Arabic highly is preferred. 

  • REPORTING: 

 

The Training Coordinator will report to the Enabling Environment Team Lead.

  • LEVEL OF EFFORT AND PERIOD OF PERFORMANCE

 

This position is long-term, on a full-time basis.

  • LOCATION OF THE ASSIGNMENT 

 

This assignment will be based in Tunis, Tunisia with potential travel to regional locations pending project needs. The office maintains a five-day work week. Overtime is not authorized.
