The International Institute of Debate recruits for it’s newest “Cafe Talk competition” 11 teams of 3 members to participate in a training on Moderation, Community Management and Research Mythodology. The different teams will compete to win a grant to finance their project.
The competition will last for 5 months starting from December 2016 and covers 11 Tunisian regions: Tunis, Bizerte, Monastir, Sousse, Sfax, Gabès, Medenine, Gafsa, Kasserine, Siliana, Bèja.
This competition aims to conduct a series of Cafe Talks on 1 CVE (Countering violent extremism) related theme for 3 months in order to develop a youth declaration on “Preventing violent extremism” and a full report on the different aspects and results of the different Cafe Talks.
For this first edition, The International Institute of Debate chose Preventing Violent Extremism as the main theme of the competition.
The topics chosen to be discussed during the Cafe Talks are inspired from the “7 Priority Areas” of “The United Nations Plan of Action to Prevent Violent Extremism”:
In order to adapt those 7 subjects to the Tunisian context, the exact topics of the Cafe Talks will be determined by iiDebate and Cafe Talk team will share them with the selected participants.
Online Call for Application: (02/12/2016)
We will launch a call for application for teams of 3 members (1 moderator, 1 Reporter, 1 Community Manager) to participate in the competition that will last for 5 months.
Selection: (15/12/2016)
We will select 10 teams, one from each region, each team has to be supported by an organisation, association, club or initiative.
The announcement will be via email, social media and phone.
Training for Moderators (Team leaders): (21-22-23/12/2016)
We will organise a Training for Facilitators (TFF) for the moderators of the all teams (10 moderators).
Participants will be trained on moderation, reporting, community management and research.
Training teams: (Until 29/12/2016)
Every moderator will train his team on Cafe Talk, community management and reporting.
Cafe Talks: (Until 31/03/2017)
Every team should organise at least 7 Cafe Talks on the different topics prepared by iiDebate.
Every team will have the freedom to choose which type of Cafe Talk he will use each time in order to collect more points to add to his final score.
The point based system will consider the type of Cafe Talk, the respect of Deadlines, fulfilment of the tasks, reporting…
Every team has to submit a global report on all the Cafe Talks they did.
At the end, every team has to develop a project idea to submit for the competition and the online voting.
Online Vote: (Until 05/04/2017)
iiDebate will launch an online vote for the 10 submitted projects
Nomination: (16/04/2017)
Out of 10 teams only 5 will be selected for the final competition.
The selection criteria will be the sum of online voting, judges score and team score.
Competition: (22-25/04/2017)
The 5 selected teams will be competing during an event to pitch their projects in front of the judges, the criteria to win will be the sum of online voting, judges score and team score.
Public Event: (20/05/2017)
iiDebate will organise a public event (press conference) in order to publish the final report related to the chosen theme, and the youth declaration.
During the event, the winning team will present an update on the implementation of their project.
