Teenage secondary school girls (ages 15-17) interested in technology are invited to apply for the
TechGirls program 2016
Deadline to apply : February 21, 2016
Program Description: TechGirls offers secondary school girls from the Middle East and North Africa the opportunity to engage in an intensive, month-long exchange program in summer 2016 in the United States focused on promoting the high-level study of technology. Exchange activities include a technology camp with American peers, site visits with technology companies in Washington, D.C. and New York City, job shadowing, community service activities, and home hospitality arrangements with American families.
TechGirls return home with the knowledge, skills, new ideas and enthusiasm to make a positive impact on their schools and communities through achievable action projects using technology. TechGirls will work on action plans in the United States and refine their plans upon return home.
This program is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs (ECA).
Critères d'éligibilité
- Are from one of the following eligible countries: Algeria, Egypt, Jordan, Lebanon, Libya, Morocco, Palestinian territories, Tunisia, and Yemen
- Are between the ages of 15 and 17
- Have demonstrated advanced skills and a serious interest in technology, engineering, and/or math in their academic studies;
- Intend to pursue higher education and/or careers in technology
- Have strong English language skills
- Exhibit maturity, flexibility, and open-mindedness
- Will attend at least one additional semester of secondary school upon their return to their home country
- Are willing to complete a follow-on project upon their return home
