SKL International seeks to engage an Urban Consultant, to provide work with a project to support sustainable urban development in two Tunisian cities based on the SymbioCity methodology.

SKL International is a subsidiary to the Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions(Sveriges Kommuner och Landsting) that works with foreign aid projects around the globe. One of SKL International’s largest engagements is the Sida-financed global SymbioCity Approach (SCA) programme. SCA is a concept for sustainable urban development based on Swedish experience. SymbioCity puts emphasis on improving living conditions for the citizens in urban environments with special focus on the urban poor.

The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) SKL International, also have an ongoing institutional cooperation with the National Federation of Tunisian Cities (FNVT) and the Ministry of Local affairs and Environment (MolaE) (since 2013). SKL International and the Tunisian partners will join efforts in the implementation of the Symbiocity Project.

The main task for the Urban Consultant is to support the targeted cities in Tunisia in the implementation of the SCA. The Urban Consultant will be working together with an International SCA facilitator and form a team. The team will be providing expertise and process support mainly by working with the Working Groups of the cities, as well as to extract learnings and experiences that can be of general benefit for urban stakeholders in Tunisia.

The Urban Consultantcan be engaged for up to170 days in the tentative period 2018-2020, with a trial period for the first 6 months of up to 60 days. Contracts will be signed with SKL International AB.
