Search for Common Ground (SFCG) seeks a professional, motivated, and creative Project Assistant to join in support of SFCG MENA team based in Tunis for a full-time, 6-month position – with a possibility of renewal for another 6 months – to start in August 2014. The Project Assistant will report to SFCG’s MENA Project Coordinator. He/She will work on a highly needed project for empowering Libyan civil society activists in Tunisia in addition to assisting the MENA team with the Libyan portfolio. Duties of this position include assisting with project management including evaluation and reporting as well as maintaining relationships with various stakeholders including civil society and government.

 Key Responsibilities

  • Assist with the overall project management, including the implementation of the project work plan and tracking the budget.
  • Assist in ensuring progress on all activities, liaising with and interviewing Libya civil society activists in Tunisia.
  • Assist in conducting a mapping assessment of Libyan civil society activists and international organizations working on Libya in Tunisia.
  • Reach out to Libyan civil society activists and organizations operating from Tunis.
  • Assist with the Libya sub-granting scheme including planning and managing project related expenses in coordination with the project team.
  • Handle the logistical arrangements for focus groups, workshops, exchange sessions and training retreats.
  • Assist in drafting contract agreements with experts.
  • Ensure a regular and prompt follow-up with the project core group.
  • Assist with the communication plan for the project including promotion through social media.
  • Assist with documenting project successes and contributing to writing the project narrative reports as required.

 As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position-holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key responsibilities.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • At least two years of experience in project management and working with civil society in MENA.
  • Bachelor degree in international relations, conflict resolution, Middle East studies, international development, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with the Libyan context and the MENA region. Tunisian and Libyan citizens resident in Tunisia are encouraged to apply.
  • Excellent interpersonal and networking skills, as well as the ability to conduct professional working relationships.
  • Interest in dialogue, peacebuilding and conflict transformation.
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, multi-cultural environment with minimal supervision.
  • Written and oral proficiency in Arabic and English.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and other software, as well as social media platforms.
