Search in Tunisia

Search’s mission in Tunisia is to promote the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of all parts of society while building their capacities. Search works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian society to address conflicts and differences constructively through cooperation and dialogue. Search-Tunisia works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, security forces, and local authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences and acting on common points. Through this approach and partnerships, Search-Tunisia has four main strategic objectives: (i) Promoting Peace Education; (ii) Fostering non-violent social dialogue; (iii) Enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and (vi) Transforming Violent Extremism in Tunisia. We are searching for… 

Search is currently recruiting for the position of three (3) Regional Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships Officers for USAID Tunisia Resilience and Community Empowerment (TRACE) program, which will increase the capacity of communities to withstand political, social, and economic stresses and shocks by achieving the objectives of: 1) strengthened community resilience, 2) mitigated community vulnerabilities, and 3) improved capacity of Tunisian partners to sustain and replicate the model. TRACE will spur 30 of Tunisia’s most vulnerable communities to action and generate sustainable resources for development in areas that are vulnerable to instability and violent extremism (VE). Together with USAID/Tunisia’s programs in accountability, decentralization, and youth entrepreneurship (i.e., TADAEEM and Mashrou3i), TRACE will consolidate democratic progress while fostering social cohesion in target areas.

Your contribution

The three (3) Regional Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships Officers will serve as a member of the TRACE Sub-Office teams directly managed by the Regional Program Manager and will have a technical reporting line to the Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships Advisor based in the TRACE head office in Tunis. S/he will serve as key liaison with local stakeholders and work with local partners to map stakeholders and engage them in project activities.
The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Working in close collaboration with the Stakeholder Engagement & Partnerships Advisor, support implementation of TRACE’s overall strategy for engaging public, private, and civil society stakeholders in Tunisia at regional level.
  • Build and maintain relationships with local stakeholders in target area through regular communication to ensure project commitments and action plans; in the case of private sector representatives, encourage adoption of corporate social responsibility policies and practices;
  • Support the mapping of private sector and existing CSR initiatives in their respective intervention regions;
  • Develop public-private partnerships in TRACE target communities to help them respond to unique regional challenges;
  • Engage local stakeholders for participation in key project activities, including development of Community Resilience Committees, Collaborative Stakeholder Action Planning (CSAP) workshops, and Sustainability Workshops;
  • Develop a shared understanding of resiliency needs in TRACE target communities where community members (public and private) are actively engaged as participants and leaders in the full cycle of design, management, and evaluation of community activities;
  • Work with TRACE local partners to help local enterprises in TRACE target communities understand the value of CSR (Corporate Social Responsibility) and to replicate and scale CSR initiatives to contribute to local development activities;
  • Support the monitoring, evaluation, and learning (ME&L) team and program staff in integrating a Collaborating, Learning, and Adapting (CLA) Stakeholder Engagement & Partnership approach into community-level program activities;
  • Support technical research and improvement of methodologies, as needed.

As job descriptions cannot be exhaustive, the position holder may be required to undertake other duties that are broadly in line with the above key duties.

Duration: initial 12 month contract (CDD), extendable for up to 5 years, with start date End of November, 2018.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • BS/BA or its international equivalent in International relations, Humanities, social entrepreneurship, or a related field;
  • Master's Degree preferred
  • A minimum of 3 years’ professional experience on donor-funded programs related to building Public Private partnerships, social entrepreneurship, community development, youth engagement, local governance, or civil society strengthening projects
  • Experience with USAID rules and regulations and experience working in an international NGO environment highly desirable
  • Familiarity with CSRs, Private- Public Partnerships approaches
  • Strong understanding of the business climate, political and social context in Tunisia
  • Fluent in written and oral Arabic, and very good working knowledge of English or French
  • Strong advocacy skills
  • Excellent coordination, communication (verbal and written) and networking skills
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, often challenging environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work through stringent deadlines with attention to detail, and coordinate and compile information from various sources
  • Strong ability to multi-task and work independently
  • Flexibility and capacity to adapt to evolving contexts
  • Team spirit and ability to collaborate with colleagues in an open and constructive way
