1. Background
Democracy Reporting International (DRI) is a non-partisan, independent, not-for-profit organisation registered in Berlin. DRI promotes political participation of citizens, accountability of state bodies and the development of democratic institutions worldwide.
Since 2017, DRI has been increasingly active in the field of social media monitoring (SMM), strengthening local capacities to monitor social media during elections, creating evidence in different countries, gathering expert organisations, producing methodologies and informing the public and expert debate.   In the framework of the project “Countering Disinformation and Hate Speech in the MENA”, DRI seeks to contribute to strengthened safeguarding of democratic processes and society’s resilience to disinformation and hate speech in the region. DRI works with partner organisations from four countries (Jordan, Lebanon, Sudan, Tunisia), strengthening local capacities to monitor and analyse disinformation and hate speech during key national democratic processes, while building a regional network to allow for comparative analysis and peer learning. The project also seeks to raise
awareness of decision makers, tech companies, and civic target groups on the project’s findings, while developing national and regional recommendations (including possible regulation) to combat online disinformation and hate speech.

2.Objectives of the Assignment
Partner associations will benefit from grants from DRI to implement their own projects each in their country, to combat online disinformation and hate speech. For this purpose, DRI is looking for a project design/proposal writing expert to support its partners in the design of their project proposals.
The support required from the expert is: 1) delivering one joint online session for all the partners, 2)delivering tailor-made online trainings for each of the six regional partners in order to meet their specific needs; and 3) continuous follow-up, if needed, for one or more partner while drafting their proposals.

All the training sessions will be provided in Arabic.
3. Deliverables and timelines
The expert will work in collaboration with the SMM team to implement the training sessions.
The expert will do the following tasks:
• Prepare a detailed agenda for each session that should meet the capacities and needs of each partner.
• Share all training materials/ presentations with DRI beforehand.
• Prepare training narrative and evaluation reports according to the template provided by DRI and based on the training curriculum used by DRI.
• Collaborate with the DRI team in the monitoring, evaluation and learning related to this training.
The trainings will be conducted online during August/September 2021 for 15 participants from 6 organisations from: Jordan, Tunis, Sudan, Lebanon, and one-to-one training for each association.
