About We Love Kairouan 

We Love Kairouan (WLK) is an officially registered civil society organisation based in Kairouan, Tunisia, active  since 2012. WLK has implemented 15+ projects, engaged over 500 young people, and built recognised  partnerships with local authorities, nationals and internationals NGOs et partners. WLK currently counts 25 active  members and operates a hub office in Kairouan. 

With support from the European Endowment for Democracy, WLK is launching an initiative to strengthen its  institutional sustainability and consolidate its role as a civic hub for youth. The project will establish a co-creative  civic hub (including a Green Urban Lab and a Digital Media Studio), roll out the “We Learn” capacity-building  programme, and set up a Youth Civic Engagement Fellowship and a Policy and Research Lab. 

Project Officer 

Contract: Part time, 12 months  

Location: Kairouan, Tunisia  

Reporting to: Executive Director 

Role Summary 

The Project Officer will coordinate the implementation of WLK’s program, including the “We Learn” training  cycles, the Youth Civic Engagement, the Policy and Research Lab, and the monthly Climate Dialogues at the  Green Urban Lab, while contributing to hub coordination and communication. 

Key Responsibilities 

  • Coordinate the planning and delivery of structured “We Learn” training cycles (civic skills, environmental  literacy, gender equality, digital creativity) for 15–20 youth per cycle 
  • Organise monthly Climate Dialogues at the rooftop Green Urban Lab, bringing together youth, experts, and  local authorities 
  • Coordinate community activities and youth-led initiatives (at least 3 community initiatives co-designed and  implemented with youth) 
  • Support day-to-day hub programming and coordinate with the space management/booking system 
  • Contribute to the website relaunch content (project showcase, We Learn courses, studio booking, Bikair,  podcast/digital arts gallery) 
  • Collect data for the MEL system, including attendance sheets, evaluation forms, and activity reports

Requirements 

  • Degree in social sciences, development studies, communications, or a related field 
  • Minimum 2 years of experience in project coordination, youth programming, or civic engagement initiatives
  •  Experience in training facilitation, event organisation, or fellowship/mentorship coordination
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation (M&E) tools and reporting 
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage youth, experts, and local  authorities 
  • Fluency in Arabic and English is required; working knowledge of Frensh is an asset
  •  Previous experience working with or for We Love Kairouan will be considered an asset
