Search in Tunisia

SFCG’s mission in Tunisia is to promote the culture of dialogue and diversity through the involvement of all parts of society while building their capacities. SFCG works in Tunisia to help members of Tunisian society to address conflicts and differences constructively through cooperation and dialogue. SFCG-Tunisia works across multiple channels, mainly with youth, CSOs, media actors, security forces, and local authorities to build the capacity of individuals and institutions to address challenges including differences and acting on common points. Through this approach and partnerships, SFCG-Tunisia has four main strategic objectives:

  • Promoting Peace Education;
  • Fostering non-violent social dialogue;
  • Enhancing participatory and inclusive governance; and
  • Transforming Violent Extremism in Tunisia.

We are searching for…

Search is implementing a new project in Tunisia in partnership with UNICEF, intending to strengthen protection mechanisms and alternatives to detention for youth in the Kasserine and Kairouan Governorates.

The project aims to assess the level of awareness among young people and residents of the target zones of the physical and moral protection of children and minors, inclusive dialogue processes, subgrants to CSOs, and public awareness campaigns to promote an inclusive and constructive approach of legal protection for youth and minors.

Search aims to recruit a Project Coordinator based in Tunis, who will work on both target communities (Kasserine and Kairouan) and report to the Search Project Manager. S/he will lead on liaising with relevant partners and key stakeholders in the different project locations, working hand-in-hand with the Design, Monitoring and Evaluation (DME) Officer, the Finance and Admin Team, as well as the partner’s program staff. S/he will also assist the planning of project activities, coordinate activities led by the project’s local civil society partners, and lead on the development of activity and monthly reports for the donor.

This position requires frequent travel to project locations to maintain regular contact with key local stakeholders and ensure a smooth implementation of project activities.

Your contribution

The roles and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure progress on all activities, including research activities, liaising with key local stakeholders, project partners and external consultants as required.
  • Conduct regular field visits, attending different project activities to ensure their quality, and communicating with the key local stakeholders to create/maintain trust and engagement.
  • Conduct regular meetings with DME team to ensure the quality of the CAP assessment.
  • Participate in regular coordination meetings with the project team and facilitate coordination meetings with local civil society partners.
  • Draft activity reports as well as monthly narrative reports for the donor, in compliance with Search and donor requirements and in collaboration with the Project Manager.
  • Prepare tracking documents for meetings, and update tracking tools regularly.
  • Maintain regular written and oral reporting to the Project Manager on project progress.
  • Support the administrative and logistical arrangements for the implementation of project activities.
  • Compile site visit and activity reports throughout project implementation to monitor progress of activities and highlight results, challenges, any deviations from projected work plans, and successes.
  • Assist the project team with other tasks as needed.

Duration:

initial 6 month contract (CDD), extendable, with immediate start date.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Bachelor’s degree in international development, conflict resolution, project management or related field.
  • At least 2 years of INGO or CSO experience in project implementation or management in Tunisia or another country.
  • Demonstrated experience working with local partners.
  • Written and oral proficiency in Arabic and French
  • Strong and proven ability in report writing in French and/or English
  • Good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office, especially Excel)
  • Cultural sensitivity and strong interest in dialogue, peacebuilding and youth-related topics
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to effectively communicate with a variety of stakeholders, as well as to build and maintain effective professional working relationships at all levels, both internally and externally
  • Ability to maintain professionalism, creativity, and enthusiasm while working in a fast-paced, often challenging environment with minimal supervision
  • Ability to work through stringent deadlines with attention to detail
  • Ability to manage time effectively
  • Flexibility and capacity to adapt to evolving contexts
  • Team spirit and ability to collaborate with colleagues in an open and constructive way
