JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Position Title: Program Officer

Reports to: PSP Manager

Location: Tunis

Date : December 2023

 

Background

WWF is one of the world’s leading biodiversity conservation organisations; its mission is to halt the degradation of the planet’s natural environment and build a future in which humans live in harmony with nature. 

WWF began operating in Tunisia in 1994, and implements the WWF conservation program throughout the North African region to safeguard natural environments and the species that live in them, promote sustainable lifestyles, train decision-makers, support citizens in their efforts to reduce their ecological footprint, and contribute to the environmental education of young people.

Major Duties and Responsibilities 

 

  • Contribute to the planning implementation, monitoring and reporting of the BIODEV initiative activities with the support of the PSP Manager;
  • Organise the coordination meetings with project partners and key stakeholders;
  • Maintain the project documentation, record of decisions made, minutes and reports from meetings, steering committees, workshops and round tables; 
  • Ensure regular monitoring and timely delivery of reports to the donor;
  • Ensure coordination with the project partners;
  • Works closely with the Financial officer to ensure timely delivery of the financial reports;
  • Help maintain accurate project implementation budget in line with WWF rules and procedures ensuring compliance with the donor’s requirements;
  • coordinate on a daily basis with the WWF NA colleagues for project related relations with public institutions, communication, administration and office running issues;
  • Support the PSP and Fundraising Manager in updating information on Public Sector donor strategies, plans, funding opportunities; 
  • Facilitate fields visits for internal and external stakeholders;
  • Develop ToRs for workshops, service providers and consultants;
  • Prepare procurement requests for services and goods as agreed upon, in work plan and budgets;
  • Lead with the organization of the logistics for meetings and workshops;
  • Support the PSP Manager in analysing and sharing information on donor’s opportunities pertaining to the Global Biodiversity Framework implementation;
  • Perform any other duties assigned by the supervisor.

Required Qualifications: 

 

  • Minimum qualification is Bachelor’s degree (at least Bac + 4) in economics, project management, business administration, sustainable development or a related field.
  • At least 5 years’ experience in project or programme management preferably in an international environment.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills. Fluency in French. Good skills in both Arabic and English are required.  
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and teamwork. Able to work effectively and harmoniously in a multicultural environment.
  • Ability/experience in facilitation stakeholder processes, engaging communities and institutional actors.
  • Presentation and writing skills to produce presentations for stakeholders and project documents.
  • Ability to coordinate technical consultants.
  • Field project implementation skills, including basic budget management, organization of events.
  • Communication skills, ability to talk to the public.

Working Relationships:

Internal. 

Reports and interacts regularly with the PSP manager (the direct supervisor); and closely coordinates and interacts with all other assigned project team members.

External. 

Interact with relevant partners both at international; national and local level according to the project objectives.
