IRI Background :

The International Republican Institute (IRI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, organization dedicated to advancing freedom and democracy worldwide. Since 1983, IRI has worked to develop democratic institutions and ideals, carrying out a variety of international programs to promote freedom, self-government and the rule of law worldwide. IRI provides technical assistance in the areas of political party strengthening, developing civic institutions and open
elections, promoting democratic governance and advancing the rule of law.

IRI supports Tunisia’s democratic transition by working with members of Tunisia’s government on communication, planning, and coordination and civil society on accountability and advocacy. To conduct this work, IRI requires three Tunis-based dedicated full-time drivers to transport IRI staff to activities they implement throughout the country.
IRI will provide cars for drivers to maintain and house. Most transportation will occur in Tunis, but IRI staff will need to be driven regularly outside of Tunis.

 

The Program Coordinator provides administrative and programmatic support for activities in Tunisia as part of IRI’s regional Intersectional Counter-Radicalization Project.

Primary Functions & Responsibilities:

  • Supports the Program Manager to implement grant(s) and ensure grant compliance, including logistical support for program activities and events.
  • Arranges logistics for Tunisia program activities, including all logistics for organizing trainings, seminars and conferences. 
  • Liaises with local partners to monitor subaward implementation.
  • Prepares detailed reports on IRI and partner activities. 
  • Assists in gathering, organizing and reporting Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) data, including activity sign-in sheets, questionnaires and narrative reports, among others.  
  • Provides translation of program documents as needed, including translating reports and communication from local partners and beneficiaries from Arabic to English.  
  • Monitors and observes political events and related activities and provides issue-specific reporting to DC office.
  • Maintains an understanding of funder and IRI policies and procedures related to grant compliance and oversight.
  • Exercises sound financial judgement in the selection and procurement of goods, services and vendors in accordance with IRI procurement policies. 
  • Assists, as needed, in outreach to new or potential in-country partners as part of IRI’s development efforts. 
  • Travels as needed for program support and implementation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Reports to: Program Manager (based in Washington, DC)

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Undergraduate degree in political science, international relations or related field.
  • 3-5 years of experience in international development, democratic governance or related field.
  • Experience with program management, implementation and basic accounting.
  • Experience with women’s empowerment and Countering Violent Extremism (CVE) programs preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience working with US Government funded projects and familiarity with USG regulations and processes.
  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word required.
  • Strong English and Arabic speaking and writing capabilities.
