Job Summary

The Program Coordinator is the entry level position for program work at IRI-Tunisia and provides administrative and programmatic support for current and developing programs in Tunisia. The Program Coordinator will liaise with staff in IRI’s Washington DC headquarters to answer questions and fulfill requests related to IRI-Tunisia programming. The MEL Specialist will work with the Resident Program Officers on their programs and will report to them and the Resident Program Director.
Please note: The health and safety of staff is an IRI priority. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the IRI Tunisia office is currently closed and all IRI-Tunisia staff are working remotely (work from home). This position will be remote until the IRI Tunisia office reopens. Additionally, all references to domestic travel within this job description are only effective after regular activity resumes.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
- Assist in the planning/facilitating or organizing of civic and voter education activities, including media campaigns and activities in cooperation with civil society organizations.
- Assist in the planning/facilitating or organizing of civic and voter education trainings for civil society organizations.
- Assist in the management and oversight of subawards, including frequent communication with and training of subawardees.
- Prepare written notes of IRI training activities and contribute, on a weekly basis, to detailed activity reporting in consultation with the Resident Program Officer.
- Travel regularly, including some weekends, to observe subawardee and civil society organization activities as needed.
- Assist in gathering, organizing and reporting Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) data, including activity sign-in sheets, questionnaires and narrative reports, among others.
- Liaise with IRI partners in civil society, political parties and national government to arrange program activities and ensure their participation.
- Demonstrate excellent English, French and Arabic-language proficiency; translate reports and communication from civil society organizations from Arabic to English and provide translation of events and documents as needed.
- Follow-up closely on progress of activities, outstanding issues and ensure timely and smooth implementation of the projects related to the office.
- Arrange logistics for Tunisia program activities, including all logistics for organizing trainings, seminars and conferences.
- Provide or make arrangements for interpretation for program trainings and events as needed. • Monitor and observe political events and related activities and provide issue-specific reporting (media reporting).
- Draft reports related to the program and operational matters, including weekly reports on program activities.
- Draft correspondence in Arabic, French and/or English.
- Ensure full compliance with IRI procedures, policies and rules.
- Exercise sound financial judgement in the selection and procurement of goods, services and vendors and in accordance with IRI procurement policies.
- Assist, as needed, in outreach to new or potential in-country partners as part of IRI’s development efforts.
