The Program Assistant (PA) is the entry level position for program work at IRI-Tunisia and provides administrative, logistical and programmatic support for current programs in Tunisia. He/she will work with the Program Officers (POs) and Program Managers (PMs), and will report to them and to the Resident Program Director (RPD). The PA will liaise with staff in IRI’s Washington DC headquarters to fulfill requests related to IRI-Tunisia programming.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in political science, international relations, or related field;
- Minimum one year of experience and/or engagement with civil society, civic education, and/or youth participation;
- Strong organizational skills, execution of tasks, and attention to detail required;
- Ability to manage diverse activities and meet deadlines required.
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, coordinate effectively, and meet program goals;
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills;
- Excellent proficiency in English, Arabic and French;
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite;
- Demonstrated knowledge of the Tunisian social, political and civil-society context;
- Experience with project implementation strongly preferred.
Primary Functions & Responsibilities
- Under the supervision of the POs, PMs and RPD, assist in the planning, organizing and conducting of program activities, including in-person or virtual training sessions, consultations, and meetings;
- Arrange logistics for program activities, including interaction with vendors and service providers;
- With guidance of senior staff, liaise with IRI partners to arrange program activities and ensure their participation;
- Translate correspondence, training materials and other documents from/to Arabic, English and French;
- Provide consecutive interpretation during activities as assigned;
- Prepare written notes of IRI activities and contribute to activity reporting;
- Assist in gathering and organizing Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) data, including activity sign-in sheets, questionnaires and reports, among others;
- Follow up with program participants to collect program results on a regular and ad hoc basis as directed;
- When needed, travel to regions for conducting or observing program activities;
- Conduct desk research on program-related topics and monitoring of media outlets and partners’ websites and social media profiles.
- Ensure full compliance with IRI procedures, policies and rules.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
