JOB DESCRIPTION

Organizational Context and Scope
Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission in Tunisia, and the direct supervision of the Programme Support Officer and in coordination with the Media and Public Information Assistant, the successful candidate will be responsible to support the creation of social media content for external communications including digital platforms and provide general support to broader communications functions in accordance with IOM’s regulations, rules, and procedures.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsibilities and Accountabilities
•   Draft content for IOM Tunisia’s social media platforms, and monitor activity across accounts (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn, YouTube).
•   Draft and disseminate public information on IOM Tunisia programmes and activities, using diverse mediums including capturing and editing high quality photos and videos.
•   Establish a standardized tagging system for posts, synthesizing the results of analytics and assessing audience engagement.
•   Assist to translate social media posts/website into English, Arabic, and French to access a wider audience in the country and in the region.
•   Assist to create banners, posters, and other visuals for social media as well as infosheets, using professional graphic design programmes in line with IOM brandbook guidelines. Applying skills of information processing and representation for creating infographics.
•   Prepare media monitoring reports on the issues relevant for IOM Tunisia’s scope of work and expertise, including, but not limited to, the daily migration news digest.
•   Assist with operational communication by responding to beneficiaries/followers’ requests in social media messengers and suggesting proactive outreach ideas.
•   Update and maintain IOM’s internal communications knowledge management system, including media contact lists, content calendars, and archive of IOM’s visibility materials.
•   Draft the design of and consolidate internal and external communications content contributing to activity reports, press releases, newsletters and other visibility materials.
•   Support the promotion of the organization’s mandate in the framework of the regional communications strategy.
•   Support the organization of events, conferences, and workshops.
•   Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

 

QUALIFICATIONS

Required Qualifications and Experience
EDUCATION
•   High school diploma/certificate with at least four years of relevant work experience, or,
•   University or Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Social or Political Sciences or related fields from an accredited institution with two years of relevant professional experience.

EXPERIENCE
•   Experience in media, PR, and administrative duties.
•   Knowledge of the work of international organizations, humanitarian and development context is an advantage.
•   Experience in social media platforms, audio-visual production, graphic design, photography, video editing and social media management.

SKILLS

•   Confident use of professional graphic design programmes (Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Illustrator) and Publisher.
•   Ability to work independently in a multi-task and multi-deadline environment.
•   Excellent organizational and prioritization skills, setting goals and timelines.
•   Familiarity with the Tunisia, North Africa region and the African Continent is an advantage.
•   Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds.

Languages  
English, French and Arabic.
REQUIRED
For this position, fluency in English, French and Arabic is required (oral and written).
