Duty Station: Tunis, Tunisia

Classification: G6

Type of Appointment: Special Short Term for 6 months with possibility of extension.

Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. Context:

Under the overall supervision of the COM and the direct supervision of the Senior Operations Officer, the incumbent is responsible for providing overall support and specialized assistance in the elaboration of the management functions, monitoring, as well as internal and external relations

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  • Assist the Senior Operations Officer in ensuring Mission-wide integration and effective coordination of programs/projects delivery;
  • Assist the Senior Operations Officer in promoting management structure that fosters joint operations planning and coordination among program/projects;
  • Follow up regularly the production of, compile, and analyse targeted information materials, including daily sitreps, on emergency operations, internal and external reports, information sheets on pertinent subjects in response to request from partners;
  • Assist the Senior Operations Officer in ensuring the coordination and convergence between programs and projects aiming to advance efficacy and effectiveness while reducing parallel structures and avoiding duplication, overlap and wastage of resources, including human resources;
  • Directly assist in the implementation of the SAR and Humanitarian assistance project activities.
  • Undertake routine, independent spot-checks of programme activities as tasked by the Senior Operations Officer, identify issues and propose remedial actions;
  • Support and facilitate the preparation of relevant training and guidance manuals for program/project and support units;
  • Assist in coordinating trainings to ensure continuity of high level of general awareness and specialized knowledge/skills among all staff;
  • Assist in the preparation of presentation materials (power point) and other relevant documents
  • Assist in monitoring program/project compliance with the objectives set in the project document and budget in coordination with Project Development Officer and other M&E officer.
  • Perform such other duties as may be assigned.
  • Undertake any other duties within the incumbent’s capabilities that might be assigned by the RMO and Procurement Officer.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Bachelor degree in social sciences, public administration, or international relations with at least four 04 years of relevant professional experience in administration/Operations
  • Languages: Fluency in Arabic, English
  • Working knowledge of French is advantage
