Title:  MENA Communications and Social Media Officer, MEPI Alumni Connection Program 

Reports To: MENA Program Manager 

Location:  Tunis, Tunisia

Summary: World Learning seeks a MENA Communications and Social Media Officer with graphic design skills, English and Arabic technical writing competencies and a good level of video editing and photography expertise to support the Middle East Partnership Initiative Alumni Engagement hereinafter referred to as “MEPI Alumni Connection Program”. The MENA  Communications and Social Media Officer will be a part of overall alumni engagement programming, including: Liaising with the MENA Program Manager to develop diverse social media strategies and policies while spearheading all of its implementation processes; creating and designing social media content and community management; offering an effective motion of program activities and social media platforms; writing stories and social media content; providing expert reporting and analytical tools; and introducing best practices to increase visibility, awareness, understanding, and support for MEPI’s values, vision, principles and overall alumni contributions in the MENA region.

Responsibilities and Duties: 

  • Ensure a high-quality technical design for videos and graphic design-related templates, logos, frames and any other products that will be used to effectively enhance programming visibility, promotion and impact;  
  • Write content for success stories and social media content; 
  • In conjunction with the team, liaise all webpage design and content sharing for program activities and online publishing; 
  • Collaborate with vendors, external consultants or experts, media and public relations professionals and guests in responding to program inquiries and providing press releases or media briefs adapted to the donor and World Learning requirements and reporting methodologies;  
  • Offer a range of effective community management practices for the program’s social media platforms and groups; 
  • Provide in-person, virtual event, and campaign communication support through well-targeted live tweeting, social media samples, community management approaches, etc.;  
  • As a social media and communications expert, provide training, advice and mentorship to colleagues or beneficiaries as needed; 
  • Support colleagues in alumni communication outreach through drafting inspiring stories and communications based on the successes of beneficiaries; 
  • Support integration of DEI goals and practices in internal and external operations and communications, as well as in program design and implementation; 
  • Demonstrate curiosity about World Learning as a whole, with the aim of being able to effectively represent the organization to external audiences commensurate with the position; 
  • Support an organizational culture of continuous learning through rigorous program monitoring, data tracking, donor and MERL reporting, research and reflection to ensure strong outcomes; 
  • Handle other tasks as assigned by the MENA Program Manager. 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

  • A minimum of 4 years of practical experience in working on international programs or media agencies is preferred; 
  • A relevant bachelor’s degree; 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Arabic and English required; advanced level in French would be beneficial; 
  • Strong cross-cultural experience with people from the Middle East and North Africa region; 
  • Ability to work independently and cooperatively with colleagues, or persons with different national and cultural backgrounds; 
  • Demonstrated accuracy, attention to detail, and organizational and event planning ability;  
  • Strong coordination, logistical, and time management skills; 
  • Strong computer and internet proficiency (word processing, spreadsheets, databases, presentations and web-based tools); 
  • Working knowledge of Canvas, Formstack, Mailchimp or other learning or participants recruitment/ research management systems; 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of photo and video editing software (Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro X, Lightworks Pro, etc.) 
  • Experience creating and implementing social media-based communications strategies ; 
  • Demonstrated ability to adjust to tight deadlines and donor needs; 
  • International work or study experience in the United States is preferred; alumni of MEPI, ECA, or other USG programs are strongly encouraged to apply.
