Title: Knowledge and Information Systems officer, SNE.

General Description of task(s) and objectives to be achieved

Organizational Setting :

Under the overall supervision of the Sub Regional Coordinator for North Africa (SNE), the direct supervision of the Knowledge and Information Systems officer, and in close cooperation with the communication teams in SNE and RNE, in close coordination with FAO Representatives in North Africa, the Graphic Designer consultant shall contribute to the visibility of FAO SNE.

Key Results:

The graphic designer will design communication and information products to improve understanding of FAO operations and to facilitate messaging, ensuring excellent data visualization for all FAO initiatives.

Key Functions:

  • Develop communications and information products;
  • Design, prepare layout, edit existing artwork and follow through the design process of reports, presentations and a variety of information materials;
  • Create information training packages and trainings for country offices and Regional projects;
  • Design information packages for visitors and new staff;
  • Maintain and strengthen FAO branding and knowledge management;
  • Ensure FAO branding guidelines are applied on all products and maintain FAO/OCC styling on products generated by the Com Unit.

Specific Functions:

  • Maintain and coordinate use of dedicated digital templates. Provide technical support for their use.
  • Archive, maintain, produce and develop graphic products.
  • If required, and in coordination with supervisor, participate in working groups on design policy and standards.
  • Review and propose standardisation of all digital graphics products;
  • Provide assistance with graphics and dynamic map visualisation of other FAO products;
  • In collaboration with IT focal point, OCC and CIO, provide graphic support for web sites and interactive products, ensuring the interactive products adhere to FAO’s User Interface Style Guide;
  • Collaborate on design features of the sub-regional office and country office web pages;
  • Assist in the production and dissemination of video products;
  • Any other duties as assigned within the Com unit.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • University degree in one of the following disciplines: graphic design, media and communication, fine arts, or other related field.
  • At least 4 years of progressively responsible experience working with communications media and specific experience in graphic design;
  • Proven experience of graphic production from start to published product including knowledge of printing process and online publishing.
  • Excellent knowledge of French and Arabic.  English would be an asset.
