Organizational Context and Scope:

Established in 1951, IOM is a Related Organization of the United Nations. Dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all, IOM provides services and advice to governments and migrants. As the leading UN organization in the field of migration, IOM works closely with its governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners on capacity building and advocacy for policy and legislative practices to ensure the protection of migrants.

Under the overall supervision of the Chief of Mission (CoM) in Tunisia and direct supervision of the HSO in Sfax; and, in collaboration with relevant units at Headquarters and the Administrative Centres, the successful candidate will be responsible and accountable for the following duties and responsibilities:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

In particular he/she will:

  • Assist IOM Sfax sub-office with the logistical needs as relates to NFI distribution, ground transportation, accommodation, meals, medical and operational appointments;
  • Support in the logistical and administrative aspects of assistance to migrants under IOM projects in Sfax in co-ordination with the respective colleagues;
  • Maintain the correct storage and rotation of stocks, as well as proper structural maintenance of warehouse in view of maintaining all stocks in good condition;
  • Maintain accurate stock records and controls at all times.
  • Provide weekly and monthly stock reports and advice on warehousing issues that affect the overall logistics operation.
  • Receive, and review procurement requisition forms for completeness and accuracy;
  • Identify service providers and provide inputs for the evaluation of vendors’ performance regarding quality, prices, and delivery of goods and services.
  • Provide a monthly checklist on pending Purchase Orders and follow-up with relevant colleagues to support timely closure of all Purchase Orders;
  • Driving IOM Sfax office vehicle’s
  • Perform minor repairs, support administrative monitoring of major repairs (making appointments, obtaining an estimate of repair/maintenance work, monitoring repair work, receiving the repaired vehicle).
  • Ensure that the logbook is established, and well maintained, on a daily basis (raise the mileage on the register). A monthly report is prepared summarizing the statistics related to fuel consumption, mileage, for the vehicle to be submitted to the Logistics Assistant.
  • Any other tasks as may be required.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Completed a Secondary School Diploma from an accredited academic institution in administration, finance or a related field with at least 3 (three) years of relevant professional experience; or University degree in the above fields with 1 year of relevant field experience
  • Knowledge of procurement and administrative management and effective resource management skills.

  • In depth knowledge of the broad range of migration related subject areas dealt with by the Organization.
  • Languages: Fluency in Arabic and French (oral and written).
