Islamic Relief Tunisia (branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide) has been operating in Tunisia since 2011 primarily as a response to the influx of refugees during the Libya Crisis. Since registering an office in Tunisia in 2012, Islamic Relief has set up and managed camps on the south Tunisian and provided humanitarian services to over 15,000. As well as supporting refugees Islamic Relief has implemented projects in health, water and sanitation, food security and education sectors as well as supporting capacity building of local associations.


The department supports the program activities to meet IR objectives. The Logistics Department is responsible for the integration of information, transportation, inventory, warehousing, material handling, packaging and security.


Providing support to IR staff in activities related to logistics.


Has regular contact with Admin and logistics coordinator, Admin and Logistics assistants, program team and drivers. Externally has contact with suppliers, authorities volunteers and labours.


Scope of the Role:

To oversee the logistical operations in relation to Islamic Relief Tunisia operations. This will include establishing logistical systems for the management of goods, personnel and resources and acquiring and managing office accommodations and storage facilities.

Responsibility for Resources:

The Logistics officer is responsible for the stock of all equipments and managing the proper use and storage of premises and assets.


The Logistics Officer is accountable to fulfil his or her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic Relief values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and staff. The job holder will report to the logistic coordinator regularly and on the basis of annually defined key performance indicators (KPIs).


  • Draw up a planning of the annual office purchasing plan;
  • Ensure that all procurement activities are initiated by a purchase request and that all purchase request submitted to logistics department are process in a timely manner to meet up with the requested delivery date.
  • Ensure that the appropriate procurement procedures are utilized for all purchase requests based on the procurement threshold.
  • Initiate the procurement process for all orders according to the procurement plan and following Islamic Relief Tunisia procurement guidelines.
  • Keep the different departments informed of the treatment given to their orders;
  • Check the supplies (quality, price, procedure);
  • Check delivery to the departments, bases and programs.
  • Manage the equipment, means of communication and pool of vehicles:
  • Supervise allocation and use of equipment;
  • Ensure installation, maintenance and repairs of the equipment;
  • Update the equipment list of the base;
  • Supervise the management of the pool of vehicles: maintenance, daily planning, price fluctuations, administration (insurance, documents).
  • Renovation and maintenance:
  • Supervise the renovation and maintenance of structures needed for the functioning of the base (programs, offices…etc.).


  • Collect information and analyze the context;
  • Establish and send the base’s security plan for approval by the Logistics coordinator;
  • Ensure application of the security rules and procedures;
  • Take responsibility for security of all the staff present on the base.


  • Keep updated the list of all assets (investment materials) present in the location with all requested information (brand, model, SN, reference of reception’s documents, condition).
  • Ensure that asset forms are completed for new assets and the inventory list updated.
  • Ensure the proper protection, use, maintenance and storage condition of all equipment.
  • Facilitate the repairs of all equipment as required by the Supervisor.
  • Prepare the asset report and assets physical inventory bi-annually.
  • Provide a details and report on assets that need a disposal.
  • Arrange the receipt and storage of supplies.
  • Organize the transportation and distribution of supplies.
  • Ensuring that all stock records are properly maintained and stock movements are monitored.


  • Ensuring proper use and maintenance of vehicles and record keeping of the travelling
  • Ensure that transport requirements that are necessary are met to manage as per plans
  • Ensure the safety and security of vehicles.
  • Arrange safe operation of the fleet
  • Ensure that vehicles are used for official commitments.
  • Guide the drivers to follow the country transport rules.
  • Weekly checkup the vehicles condition.
  • Ensure travel arrangements for all staff.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • It is essential that the post holder shows a good understanding and sympathy with the Islamic Relief values and principles as well as commitment to Islamic Relief vision and mission.
  • High School Certificate in administration/logistics or any similar sector.
  • Good negotiating skills
  • Extensive experience of using Microsoft Office packages at work
  • A motivator and encourager
  • Fluency in spoken and written Arabic and English (French is a plus).
  • 2 years of experience in logistics, warehousing, supply, transport.
  • Experience of using data bases with excellent IT skills.
  • Problem solving skills.
  • Analytical skills.
  • Culturally sensitive.
  • Flexible & patient.
  • Ability to work on own initiative as well as a part of a team.
  • Sympathetic with aims & objectives of Islamic Relief.
