SUMMARY OF POSITION

IREX seeks an Inclusion Specialist for a project in Tunisia focused on improving the relationship between Tunisians and their civic and government institutions, particularly with underserved populations. The Tunisia Accountability, Decentralization and Effective Municipalities (TADAEEM) Activity aims to improve citizen participation in and oversight of key government functions; improve municipal, institutional, and service delivery performance; and improve regional and national coordination and service delivery mechanisms to respond to needs of citizens via local government structures.
This position is contingent on funding.

SUMMARY OF RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop specific gender and youth-sensitive implementation approaches to promote/ensure the inclusion of women and youth in municipal activities
  • Manage specific initiatives, implemented at the municipal level that provide marginalized groups with concrete opportunities to participate in municipal activities and hold government accountable, ensuring that deliverables are met
  • Manage consultant activities
  • Provide technical input to training activities; serve as a trainer and mentor to youth and women leaders in municipalities
  • Ensure project interventions are culturally sensitive and specifically target youth, including young women and other disadvantaged groups
  • Ensure that youth are integrated and gender is mainstreamed across the program, including training materials, monitoring and evaluation plans, and design activities that target youth, women and girls within the scope of the project
  • Facilitate inclusion trainings with program staff and program stakeholders as requested
  • Contribute to project activities, including workplanning, reporting, communications, and monitoring and evaluation

Critères d'éligibilité

  • At least 5 years of experience designing or working on gender, youth, and social inclusion in development projects in Tunisia
  • Demonstrated experience designing and implementing training     .
  • An advanced degree in youth or gender studies or a relevant discipline preferred
  • Experience working with local counterparts on capacity building and knowledge transfer activities that integrate social and gender concerns
  • Must have proven record in the advanced use of modern communications tools, internet, email, social media, and teleconferences
  • Fluency in either French or Arabic required
  • Ability to communicate professionally and provide written reporting in English strongly preferred
