Established in 1951, IOM is the leading inter-governmental organization in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.
Under the direct supervision of the Chief of Mission in Tunis, the successful candidate will manage the implementation and monitoring of Migration and Development projects at IOM Tunisia, and particularly the Phase II of the “Mainstreaming Migration into Development Planning” (MM) project as well as the “Education, Training and Knowledge-Sharing on Migration in Tunisia” initiative and support other M&D projects in the pipeline.
In particular, the incumbent will:
1- Manage the (MM) project implementation in close coordination with the Chief of Mission and close collaboration with UNDP Country Focal point in the overall coordination of the implementation of the country-level activities of the IOM/UNDP global Joint Mainstreaming Migration Programme above mentioned and the Project Management unit based in IOM Geneva and UNDP New York, in accordance with IOM standards and procedures as well as donor requirements;
This includes namely:
2- Assist the supervisor to plan, coordinate and monitor the activities and projects under the M&D Unit;
3- Assist the supervisor to liaise with governmental and non-governmental partners at the central and local levels, providing responsive and professional technical assistance;
4- Assist in the preparation of briefings and reports, both thematic and on specific projects, as required;
5- Assist in maintaining partnerships with relevant Government entities, civil society organizations, UN agencies and other stakeholders to promote IOM’s activities;
6- In consultation with the supervisor, monitor and keep track of project expenditures and ensure that they are in line with agreed budget; coordinate the submission of timely narrative and financial progress and periodic reports with the IOM mission’s finance/RM department;
7- Assist the supervisor in the identification and drafting of new M&D programme and project possibilities in Tunisia;
8- Organize seminars, meetings and training sessions – as required by the projects – taking care of all administrative and logistical details, in consultation with the supervisor and in coordination with the Resource Management Unit;
9- Represent IOM at relevant seminars and meetings, as well as other events aimed at promoting IOM’s image and activities, as required;
10- Assist in project related communications including a) drafting and sending, in consultation with the supervisor, outgoing and receiving incoming documents (correspondence, minutes, memos, reports, briefing notes, graphic and statistical summaries, accounting spreadsheets, etc.), b) managing fax, telephone and e-mail communication, c) managing and updating mailing lists;
11- Professionally handle project related documents (i.e. keeping accurate records of daily correspondence, organizing and maintaining proper filing of all project related documents) and collecting project related information and submitting it to the supervisor as required; Liaise with relevant units for the procurement of the goods and services necessary for the implementation of the project activities, in compliance with IOM procurement rules and regulations;
12- Compile, summarize and enter data on project delivery; draft related status reports, identifying shortfalls in delivery, budget overruns, etc., and bring to the attention of supervisor;
13- Translate project related documents, identify professional translation services, if need be;
14- Contribute to maintain office directory in an up-to-date form, including directories of central and local governmental institutions and officials, diplomatic missions, international agencies and projects present in the country, NGOs, etc.;
15- Supervise and coordinate the work of consultants recruited in the frame of M&D work.
16- Undertake site visits and duty travel as required in country and abroad;
17- Any other task that may be required and assigned to you by the Chief of Mission.

f) Languages: Thorough knowledge of French, Arabic and English.
