TITLE : Resident Program Director

PURPOSE: Assist Accountant with procurement and financial reporting and ensure the IRI Tunisia office is adequately supplied.

Background:

The International Republican Institute (IRI) is a nonprofit, nonpartisan, organization dedicated to advancing freedom and democracy worldwide.  Since 1983, IRI has worked to develop democratic institutions and ideals, carrying out a variety of international programs to promote freedom, self-government and the rule of law worldwide.  IRI provides technical assistance in the areas of political party strengthening, developing civic institutions and open elections, promoting democratic governance and advancing the rule of law.

IRI has been operating in Tunisia since 2011 in variety of capacities including development of political parties, civic and voter education, improvements in communications; development of civil society and support for good governance in ministries.  IRI seeks to hire a qualified person for the position of:  Administrative and Accounting Assistant .

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

  • Copy and scan accounting documents and reports
  • Help on logistics for training and for office operations by assisting in vendor contracts, collecting bids for vendors, etc
  • Help on preparing cash disbursement vouchers for the current expenses and ensure that all proper supporting documentations are attached
  • Help prepare monthly accounting reports (imprest and other reports) as requested
  • Organize and tape bills and enter transactions into cash log book
  • Maintain confidentiality of all information gained in the course of employment
  • Maintain open, positive and constructive relations with co-workers while ensuring that IRI accounting standards and procedures are observed and implemented.

GENERAL DESCRIPTION

  • Copy and scan accounting documents
  • Keep track of office supplies; order and pick up supplies as needed
  • General administrative work such as supporting logistics for training and workshops
  • Collect bids and prices for hotels, rental cars and other vendors as needed
  • Ensure full compliance with IRI procedures and rules
  • Perform any other tasks required by Supervisor

Critères d'éligibilité

  • BA in business, finance, economics, accounting or related fields
  • Familiar with Microsoft Office Suites and Quicken
  • Detail-oriented
  • Ability to multi-task
  • Excellent communications skills in English, Arabic and French
  • Team-oriented
  • Self-starter
  • Non-partisan
