ABOUT IFES/TUNISIA

The IFES Tunisia program aims to strengthen the capacity of electoral institutions to administer credible local elections that reflect the will of the people; better inform youth and marginalized communities about local elections and decentralization; encourage youth civic engagement at the local level and promote meaningful participation of all citizens in their political systems, including women, youth and other traditionally marginalized groups.

ABOUT THE PROJECT

As in 2011, 2014 and 2018, IFES will support the High Independent Election Authority (ISIE) in the establishment of the Media Center (MC) for the 6 October parliamentary and 17 November presidential elections.  is the communications hub for local and international journalists. It is a central place for the ISIE to share information about the elections. The MC will provide an open and transparent platform for the delivery of information regarding 2019 legislative and presidential elections and provide local and international journalists all media services to report on these elections.

MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The MC Technical Coordinator will:

  • Coordinate closely with the ISIE MC Team to ensure the technical deployment of the MC’s private sector vendors. This will include overseeing and supporting the following areas:
    • Setup and breakdown of all the video, audio and lighting systems at the center.
    • Coordination on the requirements of the MC’s host broadcaster (Wataniya) and the Audio Video crew vendor.
    • Setup and dismantling of all printed items and structures including the MC’s main stage background.
    • Coordinating with the creative design agency on developing needed graphics.
    • Coordinate the delivery and setup of all furniture items.
  • Follow up with the ISIE to ensure phone lines and electric outlets are installed throughout the center.
  • Oversee the activation of high-speed wireless internet services throughout the center.
  • Provide technical support to media representatives needing audio and video services at the center.
  • Support the technical requirements for implementing the MC communications plan.

This position is based in Tunis and will require extra-long working hours. The contract will be a short-term but full-time consultancy contract. The assignment will start on August 1 and will end in January 2020 after the closing of the Media Center.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • BA in management, operations, or related field such as technical engineering; Masters preferred;
  • Five to eight years of related professional experience, including minimum of two years in leading the technical aspects of managing large events such as international summits, fairs and other exhibitions.
  • Outstanding computer and audio-visual technical skills
  • Ability to achieve desired results while working collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Ability to remain highly organized and to complete tasks within strict deadlines
  • Ability to work under high pressure
  • Ability to prioritize, to show initiative, to demonstrate good judgment and resourcefulness.
  • Willingness to work long hours.
  • Fluency in Arabic and French or French language is required. English or French are strong assets.
