BACKGROUND / GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

The International Finance Corporation (IFC), the private sector arm of the World Bank Group, is the largest multilateral provider of financing for private enterprise in developing countries. IFC finances private sector investments, mobilizes capital in international financial markets, facilitates trade, helps clients improve social and environmental sustainability, and provides technical assistance and advisory services to businesses and governments.

The IFC Footprint Program ensures the Corporation maintains a high level of environmental and social responsibility, making sustainability an integral part of the day-to-day work in IFC offices around the world. IFC’s Footprint Commitment is an important part of living our mission and being consistent with what we look for and ask of our clients. The Footprint Program’s main audience are IFC Staff members. Our Program strategy includes annual data collection, reporting, behavior change campaigns, awareness education, a network of dedicated Champions, and more. IFC is seeking to recruit a highly qualified and dynamic Program Analyst to join its growing Footprint Program, which is responsible for leading the Corporation’s efforts to improve the environmental and social performance of our day-to-day operations. This position is an excellent opportunity for an early-career sustainability professional. An academic background and experience related to sustainability is required. This is not an entry-level role.

Note: If the selected candidate is a current Bank Group staff member with a Regular or Open-Ended appointment, s/he will retain his/her Regular or Open-Ended appointment. All others will be offered a 3 year term appointment.

DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES:

The Program Analyst will help the Footprint Program Team, consisting of a Program Officer and Program Manager, to develop, deliver, and manage initiatives which improve IFC’s internal footprint.

Specific duties include:

Communications (30%)

Write content for a variety of audiences, ensuring that the information is accurate and grammatically correct, targeted, and visually appealing. You will also support Footprint Program Behavior Change campaigns, which vary from year-to-year but have included paper reduction and waste and recycling. Some of the Footprint Program’s communication channels include internal and external websites, blogs, articles, newsletters, event advertisements, case studies, and formal emails to colleagues. The program also produces an end-of-year report and contributes to IFC’s Annual Report.

Training and Knowledge Management (15%)

The Footprint Program is a small team that serves all of IFC’s global staff. Training and Knowledge Management is an important part of our work. As a Footprint Analyst, you will assist the Footprint Program Officer and Manager to:

  • Develop content for Footprint’s face-to-face and online learning programs
  • Support Footprint knowledge capturing and knowledge sharing for specific IFC audiences
  • Create standardized learning programs for IFC Footprint Champions & General IFC Staff
  • Develop standardized toolkits for Footprint Champions to deliver Footprint learning programs and events in their own offices

Research, Data Analysis, and Greenhouse Gas Inventory Support (15%)

The Footprint Program collaborates with many other departments and networks including Facilities Management, IT, HR and the Footprint Champion Network to collect sustainability metrics. The Footprint Analyst will be responsible for collecting data metrics from these key internal contacts and organizing the data in master excel worksheets, assisting with analyzing large amounts of data to produce meaningful results and summaries. Exceptional candidates will also be able to identify creative ways to analyze and communicate IFC’s Footprint-related data. Producing graphs and charts from Excel-based data and incorporating into PowerPoint presentations are essential tasks. The Footprint Analyst will also support desktop research for various project such as sustainability benchmarking and carbon target-setting.

Footprint Champion Community Management (15%)

The Footprint Program has a network of nearly 200 volunteers, Footprint Champions, who support the Program’s work in all Country Offices and HQ departments. The Footprint Analyst will support this network by keeping membership lists updated, communicating with Champions individually and collectively as needed, tracking Champion engagement, and creating and analyzing the Footprint Champion end-of-year survey.

General Administrative Support & Event Management (25%)

The Footprint Analyst will be responsible for helping to manage Footprint Program events, for example:

  • Supporting the IFC Community Connections Campaign, IFC’s annual fundraising drive
  • Coordinating and promoting HQ charity and donation drives (clothes, books, toys, etc).
  • Coordinating HQ awareness events like Earth Day

As a member of a small team, the Analyst will be responsible for General Administrative tasks, such as scheduling and managing meetings, note taking at meetings, tracking/ordering supplies, mailing/shipping, printing posters and other materials, other general administrative support, as needed.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Bachelors or Masters in a field related to sustainability
  • At least 3 years of full-time work experience in sustainability (or a closely related field)
  • An understanding of Greenhouse Gas Accounting and the GHG Protocol
  • An understanding of the principles of greenhouse gases and their relationship to climate change, and basic principles of how to calculate a corporate carbon footprint including how to use accounting standards like the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard or ISO 14064.
  • Preferred candidates will have hands-on experience with carbon footprinting, for example, calculating an organizational carbon footprint and setting reduction targets.
  • Excellent research and data analysis skills, including an intermediate-level experience with Excel
  • Communications or campaign experience, in particular with written communications
  • Willingness to pitch in to solve problems and identify creative solutions
  • Willingness and ability to work in a multi-cultural, global environment
  • Extremely detail oriented with the ability to work on a range of assignments and manage multiple tasks
  • Sense of humor is a distinct plus!
