Tunisia – Storyteller/Historian 

ICTJ is seeking a storyteller/historian to take part in 3 workshops led by ICTJ  Tunisia Office. The workshops will engage young people in discussions about how the past relates to the present and future and their role in shaping the society they want for Tunisia. 

The workshops will take place in Bizerte, Nabeul, and Tunis. For each workshop, the storyteller/historian will facilitate one to two sessions, over the course of one day. 

 Contract details will be discussed with short-listed candidates only. The position will report to the Head of Office ICTJ – Tunisia.

Key Responsibilities

• Guide and coordinate a debate based on facilitative and pedagogical approach.
• Encourage participants to take part in collaborative learning experience, express their views, acknowledge and listen to contrasting opinions in a reasoned and respectful manner.
•  Raise awareness among young participants about the importance of learning about their countrys past.
• Help participants construct an opinion and reflect upon major Tunisian historical events and how they relate to their local context. 
• Perform other duties as needed. 

All responsibilities listed above will be performed under the supervision and direction of the ICTJ-Tunisia Head of Office.

Qualifications

• A degree in Modern and Contemporary history is required or other related area or demonstrated 3 years of experience as a workshop facilitator, educator or related position.
• Demonstrated skills in facilitation, and public speaking.
• Excellent communication skills, including the ability to write, articulate, and synthesize information for diverse audiences.
• Experience working with young people. 
• Fluent oral and written Arabic.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• High level of professionalism and attention to details
• Flexible and committed to teamwork.
