Background

Gender Equality is one of the core objectives of UNDP and is implemented throughout the organization in a two-pronged approach: mainstreaming gender in all core practices; and dedicated interventions that empower women and promote gender equality.
Under the guidance and direct supervision of Monitoring Evaluation & Reporting Specialist and in close collaboration with Programme Units, Programme staff in other UN Agencies, UNDP HQs staff and Government officials, technical advisors and experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society, the Gender and Inclusion Analyst is responsible for ensuring that all UNDP programmes, projects and activities are gender sensitive and for promoting gender equality. He/she will help implementing gender as a cross-cutting issue in the UNDP programme.
Duties and Responsibilities

- Ensure quality of knowledge management and sharing in UNDP and partners
- Supports creation of strategic partnerships and resource mobilization for gender mainstreaming

Supports gender inclusion in UNDP Programme/Projects activities (including gender seal)
- Coordinates the work of the Gender Focal Team of the UNDP Tunisia Country Office (CO) and ensures that its meetings are held regularly in accordance with its Terms of Reference; prepare minutes of meetings; help prepare its annual work plan and monitor implementation.
- Supports the formulation of a gender strategy for the Tunisia CO and monitors its implementation in cooperation with programme and operation teams.
- Supports integration of gender-based approach in all project relevant documents and processes, supporting design and formulation of gender components and translating gender priorities into local interventions;
- Monitors gender implementation across projects, synthesizing progress against indicators and preparing reports according to RBM principles.
- Coordinates the work related to the process of upgrading the certification of UNDP Tunisia to the Gender Seal.
- Researches and provides inputs to UNDP management and programme portfolio teams on cross-cutting issues and implications on UNDP programme and project design, policy advice, and collaborative approaches.
- Supports reporting on gender and inclusion and quality corporate quality assurance corporately (IWP, ROAR, QA, etc…) and for donors.
Ensure quality of knowledge management and sharing in UNDP and partners
- Identifies sources of information and statistics related to gender issues; identifies and synthesizes best practices and lessons learned directly linked to gender mainstreaming goals.
- Provides technical assistance and facilitate knowledge management, and trainings for the teams and partners to ensure appropriation of gender sensitive approaches.
- Facilitates research and analysis on specific gender related issues, (e.g. women’s economic empowerment, sexual and gender-based violence and women, peace and security); and inclusion in the framework of LNOB.
- Ensures that lessons learned are captured and recorded into the CO knowledge networks.
- Represents UNDP in the UN Gender Results Groups as well as in other coordination groups with national and/ or development partners.
- Coordinates and ensures gender integration in development of policies, institutional development support and advocacy that will address the country problems and needs in gender.
- Coordinates with projects and Communication Specialist(s) to implements relevant, high-impact advocacy campaigns with key partners.
- Prepares and/or provides input to speeches by CO senior management.
Supports creation of strategic partnerships and resource mobilization for gender mainstreaming
- Identifies, in close collaboration with national and international partners as well as UN Agencies, programme areas of cooperation on gender issues.
- Contributes to implementation of CO partnerships and resource mobilization strategy to support achievement of gender mainstreaming.
- Develops ideas and concepts for possible areas of cooperation.
- Establishes close working relationships and creates programmatic linkages with relevant agencies; UN Agencies.
- Identifies funding opportunities for ongoing and new projects.
Supports Inclusion, promote Leave No One Behind (LNOB) :
- Conducts research and analysis on the situation of marginalized groups in Tunisia and provide recommendations on Leave No One Behind (LNOB).
- Engages regularly with programme/ projects to mainstream inclusion of marginalized groups such as people living with disabilities, minorities, the elderly, etc. In their activities and studies.
- Provides inputs on measures to be taken by UNDP Tunisia for increasing inclusivity and accessibility, particularly for people with disabilities.
