Project: TANIT- “Strengthening Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) for Sustainable Alternative Tourism in Tunisia”

Project Background:
The TANIT project emerges from the critical need to bolster the capacity of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) in Tunisia, particularly within the alternative tourism sector. This initiative recognizes the pivotal role CSOs play in advocating for sustainable and inclusive development, with a specific emphasis on gender equality and human rights. Drawing from the insights and accomplishments of past endeavors like the 4T project, TANIT extends its reach to encompass diverse regions such as the Northwest, Zaghouan, and Dahar. By empowering CSOs through targeted training, coaching, and collaborative platforms, TANIT endeavors to catalyze positive change and foster a more equitable and resilient alternative tourism in Tunisia.
Objective:
The objective of the project is to strengthen local civil society actors in Tunisia’s alternative tourism sector, focusing on promoting inclusive and sustainable development with an emphasis on gender and human rights. Through targeted training, coaching, and networking initiatives, the project aims to enhance the advocacy capabilities of Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), foster gender sensitivity, and facilitate stakeholder engagement. Ultimately, the project seeks to drive positive change and foster inclusive growth within Tunisia’s alternative tourism industry.
Activity: We are seeking an External Relations Specialist to provide the following services under the supervision of the Business Development Director:
1. Business Development:
• Identify potential funding opportunities, partnerships, and collaboration opportunities aligned with the project’s objectives.
• Cultivate and maintain relationships with existing and potential donors, partners, and supporters.
• Support the development of project proposals, grant applications, and fundraising strategies.
• Collaborate with project team members to ensure alignment and coordination of external relations efforts with project activities.
2. Stakeholder Engagement:
• Identify and map key stakeholders, including government agencies, CSOs, donors, and media outlets, relevant to the project’s objectives.
• Develop and maintain a database of contacts and partners for ongoing communication and engagement.
• Organize meetings, workshops, and networking events to facilitate dialogue and collaboration among stakeholders. • Represent the project at external events, conferences, and forums to raise awareness and promote project activities.
3. Communications:
• Develop and implement a communication strategy to promote project achievements, activities, and impact.
• Produce high-quality communication materials, including press releases, newsletters, and social media content.
• Coordinate media relations activities, including pitching stories, arranging interviews, and responding to media inquiries.
Qualifications Required:
• Bachelor’s degree in communications, international relations, public relations, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
• Minimum of 4 years of relevant experience in external relations, communications, or partnership development, preferably in NGO sector.
• Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, networking, and partnership-building with government agencies, CSOs, donors, and other stakeholders.
• Strong communication skills, including writing, editing, and public speaking, with proficiency in English, Arabic and French.
• Proven ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment and to manage multiple priorities and deadlines. Objective Activity Qualifications Required
• Familiarity with the context of Tunisia and the alternative tourism sector is an advantage.
