Context:
Expectation State is a purpose driven company, committed to tackling the toughest problems in Emerging States. We provide a different approach to private sector development in our focus countries, offering a specialist vehicle to increase the quantity and quality of investment.
Our largest geographic focus is currently Tunisia, but we also have ongoing interests in Jordan and Lebanon. Our communication, however, has a global audience, as we seek to change the policy and practice of how emerging states are supported.
Expectation State is becoming increasingly active in the release of research and analysis. We have developed an online research platform that aims to provide insights, analysis and research pieces related to countries where we are operating and themes of an interest to our work. This aims to build ES influence and outreach within the investment ecosystem and decision makers.
In order to reach this objective, we believe that we need to work on better communicating our activities and achievements and promoting ES’ approach. We are looking for a community manager to join us and support us better communicate externally, and contribute to building ES influence networks through social and mainstream media channels.
Role:
External Communications – 80%
We need you to manage and deliver our public communication and engagement. Working closely with our Tunisia country team and research lead, you’ll work to develop a content plan, adapt current content and create new engaging communications for all platforms, on and offline.
You will develop our online presence (website and social media), and promote our brand and presence on social media. You will be required to understand all our products including research and insight pieces, articles, and activities, and promote them through suitable channels to engage with key audiences. While the majority of our communications may be focused on Tunisia, it will also include other countries.
You will be the point of contact for our online community. You will need to actively engage online, responding to comments and requests, analysing web traffic and relevant community metrics, and relay community feedback to the internal team with requests to support in developing this engagement
We expect you to monitor new trends, information and activities related to our areas of interest, delivering weekly media reports and presenting on emerging trends to the team from time to time.
We require you to identify and map channels in social and mainstream media to highlight where and how we can strategically promote and communicate about our work. This means building relationships with journalists, influencers and key thought leaders on our core business topics offline and online, identifying key entry points and working with the country team to build the appropriate content and ways to channel it.
In addition, you will work with our Directors to promote our thought leadership. As part of our monitoring and mapping, you will plan engagement with those that are relevant to the issues at the core of our business activities to develop awareness and promote our brand’s thought leadership.
Internal Data and Knowledge Management – 10%
We need to be smart about how we work. We would like you to build ways to map and record the data we collect and content we create. Manage our internal content and figure out ways to collect and use our data more efficiently.
Project Communications – 10%
Our projects occasionally have a communications element. When necessary we would like you to work with our government counterparts to support their communication efforts around specific events or initiatives.
