Introduction

With the assistance of EBRD, Edhiafa Association developed a 3-year business plan to enable the association to have operational and financial sustainability. The main goals, include membership development and retention, better service to members, advocacy as well as association income generation and growth.

To implement those goals, Edhiafa Association seeks to hire an Executive Director to lead the implementation of the action plan, improve communications with members, partners and stakeholders, while reporting to association board of directors.

JOB OBJECTIVES

The main objective is to lead Edhiafa’s efforts to activate its strategic action plan to achieve the overall objective of sector support and development. The implementation plan will address membership growth and retention, design and provide services to members, sectorial advocacy and ensure association’s operational and financial sustainability.

Job Responsibilities

To achieve association goals, the executive director will be responsible of those activities:

  • Responsible for leading the implementation of organization’s mission as defined by the Board of Directors.
  • Review existing EBRD-supported business plan, identify required changes and update, as needed, to account for new priorities, especially related to impact of COVID-19 on the members, tourism sector and association’s activities.
  • Based on the review, and discussions with Edhiafa board, finalize methodology and tools to update the business plan and design implementation methodology, which can include, but not limited to, focus groups, online meetings and surveys disseminated to existing and future members as well as the wider tourism sector, stakeholders and partners, as needed. Identify best practices and approaches adopted by similar associations internationally, especially related to the COVID-19 context
  • Develop action plans across different strategic pillars of membership growth and retention, sector development, design services to members, regulatory reforms and advocacy, ensure associations operational and financial sustainability.
  • Lead associations PR and communications activities. Responsible for the enhancement of Edhiafa’s image by being active and visible, by working closely with other professional, civic and private organizations.
  • Supervise Edhiafa association team and successful implementation of the action plans to achieve planned targets. Responsible for the hiring and retention of competent, qualified staff.
  • Manage the day to day activities and financial operations of the association in close collaboration with the board of directors and association accountant. Responsible for the fiscal integrity of Edhiafa, including submission to the Board of a proposed annual budget and monthly financial statements, which accurately reflect the financial condition of the organization.
  • Prepare regular progress reports to be shared with Edhiafa association board.
  • Responsible for communicating effectively with the Board and providing, in a timely and accurate manner, all information necessary for the Board to function properly and to make informed decisions.
  • Responsible for fundraising and developing other revenues necessary to support Edhiafa’s mission.
  • Responsible effective administration of Edhiafa operations.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with various organizations and utilize those relationships to strategically enhance Edhiafa’s Mission.
  • Review and approve contracts for services.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • A university degree.
  • Transparent and high integrity leadership
  • Strong work ethic with a high degree of energy
  • Five or more years of civil society experience
  • High level strategic thinking and planning
  • Ability to envision and convey Edhiafa strategic future to the staff board, members and donors
  • Ability to effectively communicate Edhiafa’s mission to donors, stakeholders and members
  • Demonstrated ability to oversee and collaborate with staff.
  • Excellent donor relations skills and understanding of donner ecosystem.
  • Active fundraising experience is a plus.
  • Solid organizational abilities, including planning, delegating, program development and task facilitation.
  • Strong financial management skills, including budget preparation, analysis, decision making and reporting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills in Arabic, French and English
