Project: Enabling a new conversation across the Arabic speaking worlds (GCCNP)”

Earth Hour Tunisia Association is looking for a Project Coordinator in Tunisia

(Contract for 16 months)  

 

Background

Within the framework of implementation of the project “Enabling a new conversation across the Arabic speaking worlds (GCCNP)” that aims are to: enable national level organisations in Tunisia to design and test the most effective language and narratives for communicating climate change with their priority audiences; produce Insights into narratives across the Arab world (working title, to be refined further to be more accurate in its applicability); build capacity for communication of climate change in other selected countries in the region and disseminate findings for use by others globally. The project will support local partners to develop these narratives using the research methodologies and to learn new communications skills and techniques. It will also provide additional advice and guidance for the implementation of results in a campaign. The project’s approach will initiate in Tunisia with the implementing partners Earth Hour Tunisia, Climate Action Network Arab World (CANAW) and Climate Action Network International – and the project findings will be shared across the wider Arab region. The message testing, findings, and methodology will be taken further in additional countries in the region to test their applicability and use them to strengthen advocacy and campaigning efforts. The project’s leanings will then be shared more widely using a micro-site library.

Key objectives of the project are:

  • Create new communication narratives with key audiences
  • Build the communications capacity of practitioners in the target region, starting with a specific focus on Tunisia
  • Shift the narrative
  • Create wider influence

The project is implemented in partnership between Climate Outreach, Climate Action Network International CANI, Climate Action Network Arab World CANAW and Earth Hour Tunisia Association (AEHT).

The project will be executed in Tunisia as a national campaign and in three other countries across the Arab region.

The period of execution is 18 Months starting from April 2019 to September 2020.

 

Responsibilities of the project coordinator: 

The project coordinator’s role will focussed on implementing of the activities (including logistic preparation of the workshops in Tunisia), reporting and coordination with the CANAW regional coordinator and Climate Outreach Organization.

Main duties, tasks and responsibilities: the assignment will include but not limited to the following:

  • Project implementation
    • Direct and supervise the implementation of the national campaign
    • Develop work plan
    • Mapping of the partners (CSOs)
    • Preparation of the Workshops
    • Implementation of the national research
    • Coordination with national CSOs
    • Monitoring and follow-up of the activities implemented by CSOs
    • Coordination with the regional coordinator of CANAW
    • Maintain communication with Climate Outreach
    • Provide reports and update information related to the project activities progress
    • Communication and coordination with national partners
    • Participating on local focus group with national partners
  • Logistical preparation
    • Prepare all national activities of the project
    • Coordinate with the regional coordinator of CANAW on international travels  of the project partners
    • Manage administrative and financial procedures in coordination with Earth Hour Tunisia association
  • Reporting
    • Provide reports as mentioned in the contract.
    • Coordinate with financial department of Earth Hour Tunisia to facilitate preparation of financial report

 

Duration and location:

The appointment will be for 16 months in Earth Hour Tunisia office,

Critères d'éligibilité

  • At least 3 years of working experiences in the field of climate change
  • At least Master’s level degree in environment sciences, climate change, sustainable development or related field
  • Excellent knowledge on international and national on climate change context
  • Very good knowledge and understanding about social, political and environmental context of Tunisia
  • Extensive experience in the management of complex projects at national or regional levels
  • Strong management skills including ability to provide strategic guidance, technical oversight, develop work plans, and manage budget and project expenditures
  • Good multi-cultural and interpersonal skills will experience in networking with partners at all levels (ministry, NGOs and local community)
  • Proven written, analytical, presentation and reporting skills and demonstrated computing skills
  • Fluency in spoken and written English, preferably bilingual, but at least working knowledge (spoken and written) of French
