Background

DRC reestablished its activities in Southern Tunisia in June 2019 through:

  • an emergency and protection response (funded by the Danish International Development Agency – DANIDA) designed to assist vulnerable displaced in the Medenine Governorate, and
  • a multi-year cross border project, violence prevention along the Tunisia-Libya border phase two of the safer communities approach funded by the MFA Netherlands that builds on  previous results

DRC-DDG is currently finalizing its 2020 strategy for Tunisia and will strive to develop and strengthen its current partnerships, as well as engaging in new ones, pursuing its the objective of better assisting vulnerable populations, displaced or at risk of displacement, within the country, of protecting their rights and of empowering them towards a better future.

About the job

Under supervision of the Protection Manager and in close coordination with other DRC protection and Emergency colleagues, the Case Worker will support the implementation of all the Psychological and Case Management objectives under DRC projects for beneficiaries including refugees, asylum seekers and illegally migranst. The case worker is responsible for carrying out systematic daily case management, case follow-up, and reporting of protection issues of persons of concern to DRC protection officer on daily and weekly basis with the focus on the Vulnerable people, among the IDPs, Migrants, Asylum Seekers, and refugees population. The case worker will he/she will be responsible for the overall case management interventions and conduct protection activities, such as GBV response, Child Protection, Awareness raising and referrals.

Your main duties and responsibilities will be:

  • Implementation of protection activities in the South of Tunisia, especially in Medenine Governorate,
  • Conducting trainings on protection core concepts to support partners involved in protection
  • Provide psychosocial assistance and case management as well as referral to partners
  • Use tools in line with global guidelines
  • Coordinate ongoing of social activities and bring beneficiaries to the autonomy,
  • Build community ownership though awareness and advocacy to support people on the move.
  • Provide ongoing leadership to the partners Volunteers and oversee implementation of activities.
  • Lead Case management meeting and participate to the Coordinate regular meetings
  • Developed weekly and monthly activities’ report
  • Ensure appropriate monitoring of cases in accordance with protection guidelines
  • Ensure data base are properly corrected and information well saved.
  • Identify protection concerns and sharing trends with supervisor.
  • Strengthen networks with UNHCR, IOM and others NGOs, and State and local partners
  • Maintains flexibility to perform other tasks when requested by the supervisor.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Two years of experience in protection program design and implementation especially with migrants.
  • Relevant experience in the the South strongly preferred
  • Familiarity with standards and guidelines for protection
  • Familiarity with international humanitarian operations, coordination structures,
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, to remain flexible to a changing environment, and to make decisions independently
  • Ability to work well with a cross-cultural team and under pressure.
