1. PURPOSE 

The DRC North Africa Regional Office (NARO) is seeking legal counsel to provide legal services to DRC NARO including providing guidance and assistance to ensure that DRC NARO is in full compliance with the Tunisian legal and administrative framework. 

2. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES 

The legal adviser should provide services inclusive of: 

• The issuance of a legal opinion on all acts/documents submitted by the client verbally or in writing an in accordance to its request, 
• Coordination and assistance with Tunisian authorities, government, and negotiation of administrative procedures 
• Advice and settlement of any employee dispute or litigation 
• Drafting of any act, document, brochure, or other written matters having legal implications 
• Maintain full confidentiality and must not disclose or share information that is not in line with the best interest of DRC NARO 

This list of services is not exhaustive and can be modified by mutual agreement by both parties. 

3. DURATION OF ASSIGNMENT 

The initial consultancy period would be 12 months with the possibility to extend based on performance and secured funding. 

4. EXPECTED PROFILE OF CONSULTANT 

• University degree in law and accreditation to practice law 
• Experience working with non-governmental organizations (NGOs); preferable to have worked with an international NGO 
• Must be fluent in French and Arabic 
• Fluency in English highly desirable 

5. TERMS & CONDITIONS 

The legal adviser would be engaged on a consultancy agreement and would not be entitled to employment benefits (like full-time DRC staff) but DRC NARO would provide the legally required entitlements for consultants as dictated by the Tunisian labor code.
