Job title: Protection Monitor

Overall purpose of the role:

To implement protection monitoring activities, including the collection (both through mobile devices and in hard copy), storage in hard copy and soft copy and analysis of protection information. The Protection Monitor will ensure compliance with the DRC Information Sharing Protocol at all times

Responsibilities:

Programme Implementation

  • Carry out regular visits to assigned field locations and collect information using DRC procedures and forms
  • Approach the community in a culturally sensitive way and organize to use community spaces in advance, liaising with DRC implementing partners where appropriate
  • Ensure space for focus groups is comfortable and appropriate for the group in question and ensure privacy for key informant interviews
  • Facilitate or take notes during Focus Group Discussions to be submitted to the Protection Officer
  • Fill in Key Informant Interviews and Direct Observations on mobile devices and submit forms as soon as internet access becomes available
  • Flag any individual protection cases that arise during protection monitoring activities to the Protection Officer

Reporting

  • Keep accurate records of daily activities, beneficiaries involved, and issues identified. Regularly update files and databases according to DRC procedures
  • Contribute to the preparation of monthly work plans in accordance with project objectives and outputs
  • Contribute to the preparation and timely submission of all reports and updates to donors, partners, DRC/DDG office and other interested stakeholders where appropriate, including translation where necessary

Coordination

  • Maintain the relationship between the community / the beneficiaries and the organisation
  • Coordinate with relevant stakeholders in the field as appropriate to ensure a smooth implementation of activities
  • Proactively participate in regular program meetings and provide updates as appropriate
  • Ensure close coordination and communication with other elements of DRC program to encourage an integrated approach to program delivery
  • Support with translation and interpretation tasks if and when necessary

HR

  • Ensure adherence to DRC’s national staff policy guidelines
  • Comply with DRC’s Code of Conduct at all times
  • Support in induction process for new staff where relevant

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Must have at least 2 years working experience in humanitarian/development activities
  • Facilitation skills
  • Reporting Skills
  • Computer literacy (Excel, Word, Office Package)
  • Knowledge and expertise in social work desirable
  • Degree in law, social work, development, political science, human rights or similar plus 2 years experience working for civil society organizations or INGOs/UN
  • Relevant certification
  • Fluent in French and Arabic. English desirable
