We are looking for a highly qualifiedMonitoring and Communications Officer to join our DRC/DDG office in Tunisia.

The recruitment of this position is dependent on funding.

 

Who are we?

Danish Refugee Council (DRC) is an international non-governmental organization, which promotes and supports durable solutions to the problems faced by vulnerable people affected by conflict and instability all over the world. Danish Demining Group (DDG) is the branch of DRC that focuses on human security programming. DDG strives to identify safety and security needs from the perspective of those living with conflict and to help them find non-violent solutions. These go beyond traditional mine action activities to include Violence Reduction (VR). VR programming specifically seeks to engage communities in developing durable solutions to local safety and security challenges.

DRC/DDG has been working in the region in Libya and Tunisia since 2011. In 2014, DDG started a project in border towns in southeast Tunisia to address community security and resilience by establishing local committees for community dialogue and conflict management. DDG is now seeking to start a new project that reinforces the committees in Tunisia and also extends them into Libyan border towns.

About the job

The Monitoring and Communications Officer, in coordination and cooperation with project staff, and supervised by the Program Manager, is expected to:

  1. Support overall project monitoring through collection and documentation of programming
  2. Support development and management of communications materials and social media
  3. Support organizational learning by actively participating in and initiating learning opportunities

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitoring
    • Contribute to project and activity planning to ensure that implementation integrates effective monitoring practices and tools
    • Conduct data collection and analysis in accordance with the project M&E plan, including use of various monitoring tools, such as surveys, focus group discussions, interviews, and pre- and post-training questionnaires
    • Maintain a series of databases to document all monitoring information for use in project reporting
  • Communications
    • Contribute to drafting content for communications and advocacy materials, such as case studies, success stories, and press statements
    • Support the quality documentation of events and activities through photography and audio-visual recordings
    • Contribute to the development of content for DDG’s Facebook page and other social media, including photos, videos, and event announcements
  • Organizational Learning
    • Coordinate with programming staff on implementation of key activities, such as trainings and workshops to ensure integration of past lessons learned
    • Contribute to data analysis and development of new lessons learned and best practices
    • Promote a culture of learning within the teams and actively share lessons learned

We offer

DRC will offer the successful applicant a6 monthscontract, renewable dependent on both funding and performance. You must be available to start work from 5th Of February 2018 and be willing and able to work in Ben Guerdane, Tunisia.

Salary and conditions will be in accordance with Danish Refugee Council’s Terms of Employment for Nationals;

Critères d'éligibilité

  • At least 3 years of experience working with non-governmental organizations
  • At least 3 years of experience with monitoring, field data collection, and report writing
  • Experience developing and using monitoring tools for data collection
  • Experience writing communications pieces for public circulation
  • Experience managing organizational social media presence
  • Extensive demonstrated experience working with communities
  • A university degree in social science, political science, or related field
  • Excellent writing and communication skills in English, Arabic, and French
