THE ORGANISATION:

Islamic Relief is a branch of Islamic Relief Worldwide. It has been operating in Tunisia since 2011 primarily as a response to the influx of refugees during the Libya Crisis. Since registering The Tunisia office in 2012, Islamic Relief Tunisia has provided humanitarian services to over 15,000 beneficiaries. IRT is mainly focusing on implementing projects in education, health, WASH, Livelihood, food security and child welfare and protection sectors as well as supporting capacity building of local associations.

PURPOSE OF DEPARTMENT:

The Communications unit is responsible for the marketing, brand and global voice for Islamic Relief Tunisia (IRT). Serving the Islamic Relief Family – to Partners and IRW inclusive of its regional presences – it collects, coordinates and delivers compelling content and messaging around the globe. The Division leverages digital platforms, public relations and the media, all in line with IRW’s vision, mission and strategy.

JOB PURPOSE:

The communication Consultant is responsible for providing professional support to the Communication Unit. the holder of this position will assist in developing and implementing an overall communication and advocacy strategy for IR Tunisia and develop communication materials.

SCOPE AND AUTHORITY
SCOPE OF THE ROLE:

The main role of the Communication Consultant is providing extensive creative support to the Communications Unit, the holder of this position will develop and implement an overall communication and advocacy strategies in close coordination with other program Manager and projects’ leads.

KEY WORKING RELATIONSHIPS

The Job holder will be part of the Media and Communication Unit. He will have working relationships with different department as follows

  • Public Relation coordinator
  • Media Officer
  • Program Manager and project leads
  • Country Director

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

The job holder is accountable for fulfilling his/her roles and responsibilities in line with Islamic values and principles of fairness, humanity, honesty, respect and fair treatment of his/her colleagues and staff.

Key Accountability 1:

Development and delivery of IRT media strategy in compliance with IRW strategy in coordination with Senior Management.

Key Accountability 2:

Communication, networking, Advocacy and Marketing of IRT programs with Medias

Key Accountability 3:

Update of content for IRT Website and social media pages.

Key Accountability 4:

Coordination with Program Department and ensure communication action plans.

KEY ROLES/RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop and update IRT Media and communication strategy in coordination with Senior Management
  • Coordinate with Media (TVs, Radios and Newspapers) to cover the main activities and events of the organization.
  • Draft and submit press releases to Media.
  • Ensure to draft trimestral, semesterly and annual communication action plan with Projects leads and Program Manager
  • Prepare scenarios for project’s Valorisation Videos
  • Draft Human-interest stories in coordination with Project Leads
  • Prepare scenarios to convert human-interest stories into videos.
  • Identify and collect case stories from beneficiaries and stakeholders to highlight best practices and lessons learnt in reports and published materials.
  • Ensure the conception and coordination of Inauguration and closure ceremonies of project.
  • Review and validate the content of Social Media Pages and Website.
  • Draft and share regular updates with Media about the organizations’ activities
  • Review and translate Newsletters in Arabic.
  • Ensure that communication activities promote an accurate image of the organization and its programs amongst its targeted audiences.
  • Make sure that all Media and communications materials are in line with IRW policy and procedures.
  • Implement a proactive internal communications plan to increase staff engagement in the organization at all levels
  • Create a good communication plan for the organization.
  • Collect, prepare and edit texts (in close coordination with programme department) for news releases, feature articles, briefing notes, Questions and Answers (Q&A) and public relation papers and other materials for use in the media and distribution to the public, educational institutions, non-governmental agencies and donors.
  • Prepare a wide range of multi-media products, including audio and visual materials, annual reports, brochures, flyers, project presentations, and also handles the growing demands of the IRT website.
  • Stay current on IRT operations, public policy trends and issues which impacts the activities of the organization;
  • Evaluate the relative effectiveness of strategies and make recommendations for future actions to the CMT and other senior officials accordingly.
  • Establish and maintain contacts with media representatives and others focusing their attention on IRT activities and achievements that are of interest to targeted groups

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Bachelor degree in Journalism
  • • 5 years minimum experience in the area.
  • • Proven experience with Media Channels or Radio stations.
  • • Previous experience in preparing video contents and case studies.
  • • Experience using necessary software and tools such as WordPress, social media channels
  • Fluency in Arabic and working knowledge in French and English, both spoken and written, is required.
  • Sound understanding of development and humanitarian work at an international-level; knowledge of the global humanitarian and development area and sensitive to the complexities in working with wide and diverse NGOs
  • Strong network of Media stakeholders and Journalists in Tunisia
  • Sound understanding of the audiences that IR communicates with
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good team-working skills with an ability to work in a collaborative manner with all departments
  • Results focused and self-motivated – ability to plan, co-ordinate and deliver objectives and targets with a positive drive to achieve results
  • Able to work independently with sound judgment, good time management and prioritizing skills.
  • Flexible, reliable, culturally sensitive and with the ability to take initiative.
