JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Project Coordinator – PROMITAD

ROLE PURPOSE: 

The Project Coordinator will be based in Tunis and manage the implementation of a child protection capacity strengthening project for civil society actors working with migrant and refugee children in Tunisia. PROMITAD is a project funded by EU delegation and SDC, it includes frequent interaction and communication with international and local actors. The Project Coordinator should ensure that all aspects of work are undertaken in accordance with Save the Children’s Policies. Frequent travel to the South of Tunisia will be required.

 

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY: 

Programme management

Plan, prepare and oversee the implementation of the Child Protection Capacity Strengthening Project, ensuring the timely delivery of a quality programme (ensuring effective reporting mechanisms are developed and are operational, regular monitoring occurs against log frames, implementation plan and work plans). 

Ensure appropriate partner monitoring and evaluation systems are in place and provide monthly and quarterly reports on progress. 

 

Partnership management

Implement and contextualise Save the Children’s standard partnership framework to assess, select and build capacity of partners. 

Ensure staff and partners have clear understanding of the project design (including objectives and measurement indicators etc). 

Maintain working partnerships and good communication with representatives of UNICEF, UNHCR, IOM offices of Tunisia and the regional delegates of child protection.

Build and maintain positive communication with local NGOs/CBOs to work on the child protection in emergencies programme

In collaboration with the Senior Child Protection advisor organise regular meetings and trainings with partners to discuss progress and challenges.

 

Coordination and advocacy 

Represent Save the Children at regional coordination meetings (Protection, child protection, mental health) and other meetings and forums and take a supporting role to strengthen a child protection system.

Ensure activities are developed in partnership with relevant local authorities and other key stakeholders, including local partners and aim to establish/strengthen processes and mechanisms at local, governorate, and national levels. Promote the participation of children in all aspects of the response where possible and appropriate.

Continuously identify and document child protection issues for children on the move, and ensure that relevant stakeholder and duty bearers are informed 

Contribute to the development of case studies for the purpose of reporting, advocacy and media efforts. 

 

Logistics:

Ensure the smooth running of the activities and trainings set up by the PROMOTAD project, by planning the logistics of these activities with the collaboration of the admin.

 

REQUIERMENTS: 

In order to be successful, you will bring/have: 

  • BS/BA or MA Degree in teaching, social work or social sciences
  • Experience in project management 
  • Experience in working with at-risk children and families, ideally experience in the migration context  
  • Experience in community mobilisation and/or working with local civil society
  • Ability to write reports in English
  • Understanding of social welfare systems and child protection mechanisms 
  • Fluency in written and spoken French, English and Arabic
  • Ability to manage stress, be flexible and accommodating in difficult working circumstances
  • Ability to maintain consistent high standards of professional behaviour and achievement when working independently and as part of a team.
  • Commitment to and understanding of Save the Children’s aims, values and principles including rights-based approaches
