CALL FOR PARTICIPATION
Training Program for Media Practitioners and Journalists
Responsible Reporting and Analytical Coverage on Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB), Diversity, and Public Interest Issues
Attalaki is launching a specialized training program for journalists, journalism students, podcasters, and digital media producers in Tunisia. The program aims to strengthen professional capacities in both the analytical understanding and practical coverage of issues related to Freedom of Religion or Belief (FoRB), diversity, and social cohesion in media reporting.
Media narratives play an important role in shaping public perception and understanding of sensitive social topics. In complex political and security contexts, responsible reporting requires accurate information, contextual awareness, and careful handling of terminology and framing. This program seeks to support media practitioners in developing a more informed, balanced, and professional approach to covering such issues.
Within this framework, the training will combine theoretical inputs with practical exercises. It will focus on improving participants’ understanding of FoRB as a social and legal concept, clarifying common misconceptions, and strengthening skills in accurate reporting, ethical journalism practices, and contextual analysis. Particular attention will be given to the role of media in reducing misinterpretation and supporting informed public debate.
The training will take place over three full days in person. Participation is free of charge. Selected participants who complete the full program will receive a certificate of participation. The venue and logistical details will be communicated directly to selected candidates.
About the Program
The program consists of a three-day intensive workshop combining conceptual sessions with hands-on media production exercises. Participants will engage in thematic discussions, guided analysis of media case studies, and practical content development exercises.
The workshop will also address how information framing, terminology, and narrative construction can influence public understanding, particularly in relation to sensitive social topics. It will provide participants with tools to better contextualize information and strengthen accuracy and clarity in reporting.
By the end of the program, participants will produce original media content such as written articles, audio formats, or digital storytelling outputs addressing FoRB-related and diversity-related themes, with a focus on clarity, balance, and professional standards.
Training Methodology
The workshop follows a blended methodology combining theoretical inputs and practical application. Sessions will include expert presentations, moderated discussions, case study analysis, and supervised content production.
Expert trainers will include senior journalists, media professionals, and specialists in media ethics and contextual analysis. The approach emphasizes accuracy, verification, editorial responsibility, and contextual reporting, with attention to the sensitivities of the local information environment.
The objective is to strengthen participants’ analytical and practical skills, enabling them to better interpret complex topics and translate them into clear and professional media outputs.
