Job Purpose: 

BBC Media Action, North Africa, is looking for an experienced, creative and dynamic Resources Officer to manage the needs and requirements of the office. A key liaison employee, the Resources Officer will help create an environment in which the production and facilities teams can effectively produce material and content in line with the project and budgetary requirements.

Department: BBC Media Action, North Africa

Location: Tunis, Tunisia

Reports To: IT & Facilities Manager

Duration: Fixed term contract until 31st March, 2019 (with the possibility of extension, subject to funding).

Main Duties:

  • Supervise basic facilities including heating, lighting, air conditioning, water, electricity, stationery, training materials and conference communications, ensuring that they are kept well maintained and provisioned.
  • Organise transport for employees, guests and consultants.
  • Supervising and co-ordinating the cleaning staff and ensuring all office standards are maintained. Responsibilities include monitoring of staff water supplies, ensuring the kitchen is fully equipped (cutlery,plates,cups etc) and recycling is completed.
  • Assist visiting BBC staff with accommodation and travel bookings.
  • Undertake health and safety supervision of the office and complete reports on request.
  • Periodically review all existing office supply arrangements to ensure the best deals are being obtained by taking quality and timeliness into consideration.
  • Update monthly the North Africa office contact list and distribute it amongst staff members and the London team. Keep all staff details (addresses and telephone numbers) up to date and confidential.
  • Provide assistance for in-house training and ensure the efficient allocation of meeting rooms. 

Critères d'éligibilité

  • An understanding of media processes and previous experience in office management, logistics and/or administrative tasks.
  • Fluent in Tunisian French/Arabic and the ability to communicate effectively in English (both verbal and written). 
  • Excellent communications and negotiating skills. 
  • Intermediate IT skills within Excel, Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.  
  • Numerate and willingness to work in line with budgetary and scheduling demands. 
  • Editorial Judgement - demonstrates balanced and objective judgement based on a thorough understanding of BBC editorial guidelines, target audience, programme and department objectives. Makes the right editorial decisions, taking account of conflicting views where necessary.
