The Autumn School for Sustainable Entrepreneurship is a program for young change makers from African countries and Germany, organized by the ASA program within the framework of the African German Youth Initiative (AGYI). As from 2017, the Autumn School will be split into two components which will take place in Germany and in an African country respectively.

The Autumn School is driven by the vision of a transition towards a more sustainable economy. As a learning platform it enables the participants to extend their knowledge about different aspects of sustainable entrepreneurship, share their locally acquired best practices and creative approaches with each other, and become part of an international network of young people sharing the same spirit of sustainability.

“Sustainable Entrepreneurship“ addresses social or ecological problems through entrepreneurial efforts. Many of these problems are highly complex and global in nature. They require integrated responses, based on resources and know-how from different regional actors. By creating a common understanding of sustainable entrepreneurship in the global context the Autumn School wants to facilitate a dialogue and the implementation of sustainability projects across continents.

The Autumn School is aimed at entrepreneurs guided by social and ecological principles or university students with relevant knowledge and considerable interest in the field of sustainable business. The format is particularly suited for entrepreneurs who are in the conceptual or early implementing phase of their project.

Participants of the Autumn School will:

  • benefit from international personal exchanges and get to know more about the life and work of young change makers from African countries and Germany
  • be able to tackle local challenges more efficiently by discussing sustainability issues in a global setting
  • exchange resources and experiences and prepare the ground for long-term virtual or regional exchange
  • gain the motivation and the capacities to act as drivers of change for sustainable entrepreneurship in their own region

Autumn School 2016:

The Autumn School for Sustainable Entrepreneurship will take place for the first time from 14th – 19th November 2016 in in the premises of the Blogfabrik in Berlin, Germany.

The schedule includes:

  • participation in the ASA-Kaleidoskop, the ASA program’s annual dialogue and networking event on sustainable business (18th – 19th November in Berlin)
