MODERATION SERVICES

THE SKILLS DEVELOPMENT MEETING FOR AFRICAN PARLIAMENTARIANS ON TRACKING, STOPPING AND RETRIEVING ILLICIT FINANCIAL FLOWS IN AFRICA

Introduction

Tax Justice Network Africa (TJNA) is a Pan-African organisation established in 2007 and a member of the Global Alliance for Tax Justice.  It is a network of 29 members in 16 African countries. Through its Nairobi Secretariat, TJNA collaborates closely with these member organizations in tax justice activities at the national and regional level.  TJNA seeks to promote socially just and progressive taxation systems in Africa, advocating for pro-poor tax policies and the strengthening of tax systems to promote domestic resource mobilization.  TJNA aims to challenge harmful tax policies and practices that favour the wealthy and aggravate and perpetuate inequality.

  1. Roles and Tasks

The master of ceremony shall undertake the following duties:

  • Refer to the event’s documentation, prepare and submit event’s talking points
  • Introduce all sessions as designed in the programme
  • Introduce all speakers as designed in the programme
  • Consult speakers beforeintroducing their sessions for any important message and proper introduction
  • Communicateall relevant information pertaining to the training’s logistics,in collaboration with TJNA communication team
  • Act fast and avoid dead air (unnecessary silence)
  • Oversee timing from one session to the next
  • Use ice-breakers and create convenient environment for the event
  • Meet with TJNA communication team for daily debrief
  • Manage all sessions in both French and English, interchangeably

1 . Deliverables

The expected deliverables from this assignment:

  1. Lively event opening, sessions and speakers’ introductions
  2. Timely and smooth transition from one session to the next, from the beginning of the training up to the closing remarks
  3. Timely announcements

2 .Timeframe

The master of ceremony services will be needed during the training. The contract will run for a period of 2 days from5th to 6th September 2019, and the MC is required to meet with the communication team for a briefing session one day prior the event, for a maximum of 3 hours.

4 .Disclaimer

All contracts for services related to the training shall strictly follow the procurement rules of TJNA. Any contract that does not follow those rules will be considered null and void unless there has been exceptional clearance by the Executive Director.TJNA will not be liable for any misplacement of relevant documents.
