Title: Accountant

Reports to: Finance Manager 


The purpose of the $70 million USAID-funded Jobs, Opportunities & Business Success (JOBS) is  to create jobs in Tunisia on a sustainable basis by (1) providing targeted assistance to  Tunisian businesses, especially SMEs, to expand their sales and/or exports enabling them to expand and  hire additional workers; (2) enhance work force development by reducing the education/training gap  between what the university and vocational training systems provide and the actual needs of Tunisian  businesses; (3) promote a more effective business enabling environment by working with the public  and private sectors to promote policy and regulatory reforms; and, (4) communicate to Tunisians,  especially youth, a sense of the importance of market-led economic growth and entrepreneurship, as  well as vocational education as an apt career choice. JOBS also aspires to have project stakeholders and  Tunisians at large understand and be aware of USAID’s contribution to these objectives through the  JOBS project. 


The Accountant will be responsible for assisting in all aspects of the project accounting and financial  management. He oversees the processing of accounting transactions according to the general principles  of accounting and adheres to the project’s policies and procedures. 

  • Review all approved invoices in the system and prepare their payments
  • Prepare checks and wire transfers 
  • Record all transaction payment in the system  
  • Maintain banking relationship with CitiBank 
  • Maintain the petty cash vouchers and fund  
  • Archiving all hardcopies of invoice vouchers along with their proof of payments
  • Calculate and process any tax payments, when appropriate.
  • Follow up on vendors and consultants WHT certificates.
  • Perform other project duties as required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or other relevant financial field preferred. 
  • Professional experience in accounting and financial management: 3-7 years of experience for  accountant position 
  • A strong knowledge in and understanding of USAID regulations preferred. 
  • Experience with D365 or other relevant financial accounting software system required. 
  • Computer literacy word processing, spreadsheets and preparation of graphs, tables, charts with  Microsoft Office (including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and account software 
  • Demonstrated leadership, versatility, and integrity.
  • Fluency in Arabic and French, proficient in English.
