The Project: 

The first Lazord Fellowship began at the Gerhart Center in Egypt in 2010 with 3 female graduates. It has since expanded to INJAZ in Jordan, and UTIL Tunisia with 36 fellows a year. This program was formed in order to support the current fellowships as well as create similar programs in neighboring countries around the Mediterranean. 

The Lazord Fellowship is a program that provides recent graduates with professional and civic skills through year-long job placements, mentoring, and training by local partners. 

The fellow is placed for one year in a locally based organization working on projects pertaining to the improvement of the common good. 

In Lazord, we believe the learning experience is a journey which should not only include knowledge and skills but a comprehensive understanding of themes critical to the success of a professional in the change-making industry. 

The mentoring component of the fellowship sits at the crossroad between coaching and professional counseling. Fellows meet monthly with their mentor, selected for both their expertise and capacity for digging out the potential in young passionate professionals. 

Objectives: 

The main objectives of the trainers are as follows: 

  1. To design and develop comprehensive training materials, including presentations, handouts, exercises, and assessments according to the Lazord Journey learning objectives. b. To deliver engaging and interactive training sessions to participants, utilizing appropriate training techniques and methodologies. 
  2. To ensure participants’ understanding and application of the training content through practical exercises, case studies, and discussions. 
  3. To assess the effectiveness of the training programs through participant evaluations and make necessary improvements for future sessions.

Scope of Work: 

The trainers will be responsible for the following: 

  1. Understand the training requirements and tailor the content accordingly. 
  2. Providing a detailed training plan, including session outlines. 
  3. Creating and customizing training materials based on the Lazord Journey learning objectives. d. Delivering training sessions in a professional and engaging manner, using appropriate training techniques. 
  4. Providing ongoing support and guidance to participants during and after the training sessions. f. Preparing and submitting comprehensive training reports, including participant evaluations, recommendations, and areas of improvement. 

Deliverables: 

The trainers will be expected to deliver the following: 

  1. Training materials, including presentations, and exercises, within the agreed timeline. b. Engaging and interactive training sessions that meet the learning objectives and are aligned with the organization’s policies and standards. 
  2. Evaluation results, and recommended improvements. 
  3. Final comprehensive training report summarizing the overall effectiveness of the training programs and providing recommendations for future sessions.

  6. Management skills
  7. Interpersonal skills: dealing effectively with colleagues, supervisors, and partners; receive and provide constructive feedback; being a constructive team member 
  8. Legal framework for organizations: the local context 
  9. Research Methods
  10. Project management: articulate theory of change, design, planning, implementation, participatory evaluation, stakeholder engagement 
  11. Partners’ outreach, fundraising, and investment seeking 
  12. Financial, operational regulations and budgeting 
  13. Collective responsibility and decision-making (accountability, local governance, community mobilization and advocacy) 
  14. Conflict resolution and management 

Qualifications and Requirements: 

The trainers should possess the following qualifications and requirements: 

  1. Proven experience in delivering training in their respective areas of expertise. b. Expertise and knowledge in the relevant fields, with up-to-date information and best practices. c. Excellent presentation and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage diverse audiences and create a positive learning environment. 
  2. Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate complex concepts and ideas. 
  3. Proficiency in using multimedia tools and technology for training purposes. 
  4. Flexibility and adaptability to meet the specific needs and requirements of the organization.
