Contract:                        12 months (renewable)

Working Hours:            40 hours per week

Location:                       I WATCH Headquarters – Tunis

ABOUT US:

I WATCH is a Tunisian watchdog organisation created after the revolution in 2011. I WATCH works mainly on two axes: transparency and corruption. I WATCH has been the official chapter of Transparency International in Tunisia since September 2019. I WATCH is made up of like-minded young professionals and motivated volunteers who, through their innovative work, are determined to tackle the problem of corruption and lack of transparency in both public and private sectors.

ROLE SUMMARY:

I WATCH organization is currently seeking 2 research assistants to join its Think Tank research team. The research assistants will be responsible for research and knowledge generation to implement I WATCH’s global strategy for the coming three years. Among other things, the research assistants will develop research tools and methodologies, analyse data and provide recommendations and solutions related to I WATCH’s field of work mainly: Public policies, anti-corruption, and good governance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

The research assistant will be responsible for the following:

  • Contribute to the development of knowledge materials, tools, and methodologies to meet the research team’s objectives, including producing studies, policy briefs and on-demand research and policy support on corruption, public policy, and governance.
  • Conduct and coordinate desk research on a wide range of corruption-related topics
  • Coordinate research as needed and develop knowledge materials, including providing quality control of I WATCH’s research outputs.
  • Support the development of policy positions on corruption and public policy in Tunisia.
  • Produce evidence needed for advocacy campaigns
  • Coordinate the implementation of research activities aimed at addressing the knowledge gaps on corruption and anti-corruption
  • Check facts, proofread, and edit research documents to ensure quality and accuracy
  • Contribute to the overall functioning of the Research team by providing proactive and ad hoc support where necessary
  • Represent the organisation at relevant fora within area of expertise as needed; build relationships with external counterparts, communities of practice and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the overall work of I WATCH organization
  • Commitment to I WATCH’s values and ways of working and to I WATCH’s objectives to promote transparency and anticorruption.

Critères d'éligibilité

  • Master’s degree in a relevant field of the social sciences, such as law, political science, sociology, economics, public administration, or a related field, with an academic emphasis on research
  • 2+ years of relevant professional experience in social research with a track record of developing tools and methodologies and producing operationally and policy relevant research
  • Demonstrated organisational skills and ability to successfully manage priorities in a dynamic and fast paced work environment
  • Professional language proficiency in written and spoken French and English and fully fluent in Arabic (written, spoken) with high academic standards of writing research products in Arabic
  • Recognized expertise in governance and anti-corruption is an asset & Demonstrated ability to work under pressure and delivering to tight timelines
  • Solid writing, editing and communication skills &Ability to work in a team as well as independently
  • Strong knowledge and experience in research design, development of tools and methodologies
