Seminar on CSOs Initiatives in the Field of Good Governance

On May 13th 2018, the Amman Center for Human Rights Studies, in partnership with GVC Italia, organised a seminar to present the four Jordanian initiatives funded under the project “WEGOV! Empowering MENA CSOs participation in policy making”.  The seminar took place at the Jerusalem International Hotel in Amman. Here were present the four organisations that benefitted from WEGOV sub-grant mechanism – Election Network in the Arab Region (ENAR); Intermediaries for Change Center for Sustainable Development; Motivators for Training and Saba Hamlet – as well as other representatives of small and medium CSOs working in the field of good governance and human rights.

The event started with a welcome note from DrNizamAssaf, director of ACHRS, and a presentation by Islem Said, GVC Italia (Tunis), to give and overview of WEGOV, its achievements and the sub-grants mechanism in Tunisia, Libya, Jordan and Palestine. After that, representatives of the four sub-grantees presented their projects highlighting achievements and success stories, but also challenges and difficulties they encountered in the implementation. Following each and every presentation, due space was reserved for questions and feedbacks from the participants so that they could get to know in more details some aspects of the projects, but could also point out remarks on the results presented as well as suggestion for the future. The discussion, moderated by Dr NizamAssaf, took place in a positive and constructive environment in which the grantees and the public could exchange their points of view on the projects and their achievements, but could also share mutual experience in the sector.

All the participants in the seminar welcomed positively the initiative to finance small CSOs under the project WEGOV and acknowledge the good results and impact that those initiatives had in Jordan. Based on this, many of the organisations present expressed their willing to participate in similar initiatives in the future.
