Reports to: Tunisia JOBS WFD Team Leader.
The Tunisia Jobs, Opportunities, & Business Success (JOBS) project is a five-year project funded by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID). The purpose of the JOBS project is to help Tunisian private companies increase their sales and exports sustainably to increase economic growth opportunities, including job creation. JOBS will achieve this objective through a multi-dimensional approach including:
– provide SMEs with needed resources and know-how for enhanced competitiveness. – enhance workforce development by reducing the sills and employment gaps between the university and vocational training systems and the actual skills needed of Tunisian businesses.
– promote a more effective business enabling environment by working with the public and private sectors to promote policy and regulatory reforms; and
– communicate to Tunisians, especially youth, the importance of market-led economic growth and entrepreneurship to deliver needed resources to companies.
To support the main objective of job creation, JOBS’ workforce development (WFD) component aims to improve the match between the skills required by the labor market and the training output provided by institutions of higher education and vocational training and to better prepare youth for the labor market.
In Year 4, JOBS will implement a highly focused program, concentrating on select areas: 1. Internship program for 1,500 youth
2.POSITION DESCRIPTION
The WFD Intern will support the WFD team implementing Y4 activities, including the internship program. More specifically, s/he will provide administrative and logistical support in the planning, preparation and follow up of WFD activities.
Under the supervision of the WFD Team Leader, the WFD intern will be accountable for the following: – Contribute to the planning, preparation, and follow-up of WFD activities, ensuring the administrative and logistical support.
– Contribute closely with the WFD team to documenting the activities, support monitoring and reporting, communication, and process evaluation.
– Ensure JOBS WFD documentation as per USAID compliance.
– Ensure data entry on ArcGIS of all activities related to WFD.
– Perform other tasks as may be required by the JOBS WFD Team Leader, DCOP, or COP. 4. REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
– Undergraduate degree (Bachelor or master’s degree) in human resource development, international relations, business management, management of NGOs, or other relevant or equivalent or related field.
– Excellent management, organization, communication (verbal and written) and problem-solving skills with the ability to prioritize assignments and meet required deadlines.
– English language skills at a functional to fluent level are highly desired. French and Arabic fluency is required.
– Demonstrated ability to work well in teams.
– Ability to deal sensitively in multi-cultural environments and build effective working relations with clients and colleagues.
– Ability to effectively organize work and set priorities.
– Flexibility and ability to travel within Tunisia for short durations (e.g. maximum of a couple weeks). – Excellent typing and computer skills.
The WFD intern will report to Tunisia JOBS WFD Team Leader.
This short-term position is a full-time internship for about 3 months.
The assignment will be in Tunis, with occasional travel to other regions.
